Asma Al-Assad is the power behind Bashar’s throne

ASMA Al-Assad’s biggest mistake was to have been born a woman. While Bashar al-Assad approves use of extreme violence against his countrymen, the press guns for his British-born wife.

Having read Vogue’s hagiography to the Asma slender ankle (with apology)- no GQ repot on Bashar’s preference for the sack, crack and back – the Telegraph looks though the couple’s apparently leaked emails and notes that “Mrs Assad, 36, displays no misgivings about the regime’s bloody crackdown, which has accounted for most of the estimated 8,000 lives lost”.

Well, quite. As Asma’s wedding vows might have gone: “In sickness and in health, in times of mass murder and State-sanctioned rape, when you can’t find the remote control or your Right Said Fred LP and blame me, I do take thee to be my lawfully wedded wife.”

Asma al-Assad’s Vogue profiler Joan Juliet Buck explains her ‘Rose in the Desert’ horror

JOAN Juliet Buck has been on the Piers Morgan CNN show. Buck is the author of the god-awful “Rose in the Desert” profile on Syria’s Asma al-Assad that appeared in Vogue not long before the Acton-born lovely’s husband started killing his countrymen. It included the line:

She is ‘glamorous, young, and very chic… a thin, long-limbed beauty with a trained analytic mind who dresses with cunning understatement.’…

 No watch, no jewelry apart from Chanel agates around her neck, not even a wedding ring, but fingernails lacquered a dark blue-green. She’s breezy, conspiratorial, and fun…

US Vogue Removes Fawning Tribute To Asma al-Assad: Syria’s Eva Braun?

US Vogue has removed its shameful interview with Syrian first lady Asma al-Assad from its website after my April 26 post drawing attention to its continued online presence. Since the indentured guttersnipes of the press had forgotten all about this I thought I should say something.
