THOMAS McCulloch was armed with an axe when he murdered a nurse, a patient and a young policeman in Carstairs back in 1976. They had escaped from Carstairs state mental hospital in Lanarkshire.Armed with homemade weapons and an axe, they butchered a nurse, a patient and a young policeman.They split man’s head with an axe. They scalped another victim with the same weapon.
