Manchester City And Imre Varadi Were Right: Don’t Blame The Banana For Racism In Football

CHUCKING banana skins and grunting like a monkey are things of history in British football. Over in Spain, racism is more prevalent. Last night, Barcelona’s Dani Alves fielded a banana tossed from the crowd at Villarreal’s Estadio El Madrigal and ate it.



He didn’t even pick off the black and stringy bits. He just peeled and ate it, in a move that mocked both the mentally negligible fool who’d tossed it and the threat of indigestion.

German supermarket sells peeled slip-free bananas

THE German-owned Billa supermarket chain has been selling ready-peeled bananas in its Austrian stores. The fruits come on a plastic tray rapped in clingfilm.

Billa is big on sustainability and recycling. You wonder if the banana skins are being harvested for housing projects in Fiji or eco-friendly umbrellas in the Sudan.

Crash Test Honey: Infatable Dolls For Cars

“I HEARD a loud bang and went outside to see what was happening. I couldn’t believe it,” says Mavis Batty of the scene on Liverpool Road, Irlam.

“I’m amazed no one was killed. It looked like the emergency services were trying to get someone out of the back – maybe it was the rubber doll.”

It was. In the back of the blue Fiesta the figure of a woman appears.

The driver and his passengers are not hurt. The rubber doll is full serviceable.
