Banning The Periodic Vagina In Richard Adams’ River City And Tampon Adverts

THE Guardian’s Richard Adams ended up defending himself from sexist accusations by his readers when he dared to dip his quill into the subject of feminine hygiene. He has a delightful blog pointing out the V-word is banned in US tampon ads.

There can be no direct naming of the vagina. No front bottom, minge, birth canal, pussy, beaver, Venus trouser trap, burning ring of fire, or the all-time classic ‘blossom full of nectar’. There are a few other descriptive nouns …but modesty forbids.

There was a hint of troubles in Richard’s personal River City, but he got the desired result – a great response.
