Gaia Saving Cate Blanchett’s Occasional Use Of Helicopter Fuel

CATE Blanchett says we can save the planet if we cut down on stuff. She’s saving the world as only the candlle-lit rich can:

Cate Blanchett went to great lengths to hide herself from the photographers awaiting her return from James Packer’s country estate this week. Could that have something to do with her eco unfriendly mode of travel?

The controversial environmentalist – who was attacked by Tony Abbott and other opponents to a carbon tax following a polarising TV campaign in May – was without the eco-friendly hybrid vehicles that take her everywhere in Sydney, instead opting for Packer’s private helicopter.

Cate Blanchett Saves The Planet As Only The Jet-Setting Rich Can

CATE Blanchett is the eco-warring actress who says yes to the Australian carbon tax and yes to flying. Cate is one of the everyday rich Joes saying “yes” to a tax that will make things more expensive.

But away from the campaign that features the image of London’s Battersea Power Station belching out emissions – presumably hot air supplied by the marketing men at the latest product launch (the place hasn’t created power since the early 1980s) – Cate is jetting about the place, sometimes with her three carbon emitting kidzzz (at least one of whom was born in the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth in St John’s Wood, London). “Everyone will benefit if we protect the environment. There is a societal cost of increased pollution and that’s what I’m passionate about as a mother, that’s where it gets me in the gut.”

Inspiring Cate Blanchett On The Death Of The Likable Australian

CATE Blanchett is in conversation with Mindfood magazine. Pay attention.

Blanchett said she initially tried to shield her boys, Dashiell, 8, Roman, 6, and Ignatius, 2, from her work:

”It’s a very, very difficult job to do with children, and I think in our first year we were trying to quarantine them from what we do so their lives were hermetically sealed and they didn’t feel the impact of our work.”

The three children are now adjusting to the magnitude of mum and dad. As Cate says:

”We’re there to inspire and provoke – that’s our job.”

Adding:

”It’s in the mind of the artist the future is imagined. You say that loudly in this country, and you sound pretentious but it is, in fact, true …”

In Pictures: Russell Crowe’s Middle Aged Robin Hood Woos Milf Marian

TO the Cannes screening, then, of Robin Hood, Ridley Scott’s attempt to turn the robber of rich men into a Middle Aged James Bond. And who better to play Middle Aged Bond than middle aged Russell Crowe? In this episode, Robin gets of with Milf Marian and sticks it to loads of Frenchies on beaches. It’s like a Club 18-30 theme holiday but without the dramatic tension and vomit. And then there’s the tagline: “Robin Hood- Licence To Quill.” Enough already…
