IN December, Dutch politicians will vote to ban halal and kosher methods of slaughtering animals for food.
It’s all about modern methods of killing animals being better, say the Dutch. Rather than being bled to death or having their necks wrung, animals these days are sung to death and then when asleep kicked in the head by teenagers on tag.
Some, however, see the ban in the context of European history.

New York Police Stop Dutch Cyclist For Wearing ‘Disturbing’ Outfit
IN New York, Dutch tourist Jasmijn Rijcken, 31, is riding her bicycle. The police pull her over. Says she:“He said it’s very disturbing, and it’s distracting the cars and it’s dangerous. I thought he was joking around but he got angry and asked me for ID. I didn’t even think for one second that my outfit could be harmful or disturbing.”

The first-ever scientific study into the health effects of global warming on the Dutch population says it will lead to hundreds of additional deaths. Thousands of additional people are expected to develop skin cancer or contract Lyme’s disease after tick bites.
