Eight Protesters ‘Line Streets’ Of Welshpool As Shropshire Star Exaggerates Protest Against Wind Turbines

TO Welshpool, Powys [thanks, Steve], where campaigners have “lined the streets” in protest at the “controversial” building of wind farms which will see large bits of turbine wheeled through the region’s towns.

The council are against the turbines and so by the looks of things is the local newspaper, The Shropshire Star.

Says the story:

Welshpool Town Council is concerned the area’s road network will to be unable to cope with the huge lorrie Earlier this year, Welshpool Town Council said it would consider sending six sheep with small wind turbines attached to them to London in a bid to prevent the wind turbine lorries travelling through the town. It forms part of several protests planned by the council, giving residents chance to have their voices heard.

But who needs a gimmick when the locals are lining the streets?

Well, Embrace My Planet looked at the happening from a different angle. The truck took 20 minutes to pass through the town, and that includes the time taken during a stop to let traffic pass.
