HOOVER In August 1992, Hoover came up with the unbelievable offer: two free return tickets to any European destination to all British customers spending over £100 on its products. Wow! And double Wow then Hoover extend the deal to the US. This will shift that backlog of vacuum cleaners and washing machines. Customers buy a products and wait for their tickets. Hoover fail to deliver. The law got involved and the debacle cost Hoover nearly £50 million and the firm's board its jobs. Hoover's British division is now owned by Italian firm Candy. About 220,000 people did eventually fly.
