In an effort to put the spill in context, Mr Hayward argued that "the amount of volume of oil and dispersant we are putting into is tiny in relation to the total water volume." May 18 The BP chief executive tells Sky News in which he claimed that the environmental impact of the spill will be "very, very modest." May 30 Hayward says, "there's no one who wants this over more than I do. I would love my life back." On June 19, Hayward takes part in a boat race around the Isle of Wight.
