Game of Thrones spoilers

Books. Ever hear of them?  The Sun says “SHOCK LEAK Game of Thrones fans sent into a frenzy as ‘entire plot for season seven leaks online’”. Games of Thrones is based on a series of books by George R.R. Martin. If you want to know what happens in the TV version, why not just, you know, read the books?

Yes, yes, the TV version does differ from the books. Producer David Benioff says the show is “about adapting the series as a whole and following the map George laid out for us and hitting the major milestones, but not necessarily each of the stops along the way”. But you get the gist of the plot.

The Mail says “a Reddit user going by the name awayforthelads posted an enormous list of very detailed spoilers”.

How do we know to trust awayforthelads? Maybe they made it up? After all, the Sun looks at the leaks and says it is”reveals a pregnancy and a saucy romp between two main characters”. Sex in Game of Thrones is like the weather at the end of the evening news. It’s expected. As for a pregnancy, the show is about dynasties. Kids are part of the process.

And then comes the truly conniving part: the Mail wants to turn the taps open on that leak.

Game of thrones spoilers

If you want to read the leaks, you can, of course. If you enjoy escapism, you might want to pass over the leaks and just wait for the entertainment.

Game of Thrones: prostitute Saeeda Vorajee plays prostitute Armeca

sahara knite armeca game of thronesSaeeda Vorajee plays a prostitute in Game of Thrones. She is also known as Sahara Knite, claims the Sun. The Mail is excited:

An actress who played a prostitute in Game of Thrones is actually a real-life hooker.. Saeeda Vorajee, 41, starred in the first two series of the hit show as a prostitute called Armeca where she took part in a controversial lesbian sex scene and acted alongside Jerome Flynn.

The Sun does her marketing:

The Sun on Sunday’s reporter was invited to Saeeda’s home in Strood, Kent. She led him to a dimly-lit room where she offered a massage and sex act for £65 or full sex for £900.

The Sun adds: “The Muslim, who has been disowned by her family, advertises herself as a “porn star, masseuse, mistress and session wrestler”.

The reporter’s religion is not stated.

What it all adds up to we can’t be certain. Saeeda wasn’t recruited for her acting abilities alone. She looks great and is versed in seduction and sexual excitement. She is also cheaper than hiring an actor, leaving more of the show’s budget to be spunked on CGI monsters and inventing novel new ways to murder people.

Peter Dinklage the sex symbol: Tyron Lannister is a busty Cosplay star

Tyrion Lannister

It takes a lot of strapping to turn Peter Dinklage into Games of Thrones’ hero Tyrion Lannister.

Peter, a buxom 32D, is rarely seen as nature intended to let his acting do the talking.

GAME of Thrones author George RR Martin has been talking to Rolling Stone:

“Ideas are cheap. I have more ideas now than I could ever write up. To my mind it’s the execution that is all-important. I’m proud of my work, but I don’t know if I’d ever claim it’s enormously original. You look at Shakespeare, who borrowed all of his plots. In A Song of Ice and Fire I take stuff from the Wars of the Roses and other fantasy things, and all these things work around in my head and somehow gel into what I hope is uniquely my own. I don’t know where it comes from, yet it comes — it’s always come.

“If I was a religious guy I’d say it’s a gift from God, but I’m not, so I can’t say that.”

Admit it Guardianista Handwringers, You Love Game of Thrones For The Sex And Violence…Just Like The Rest Of Us

game of bones

Mic Wright’s Remotely Furious: Admit it Guardianista handwringers, you love Game of Thrones for the sex and violence…just like the rest of us

THAT irritating rubbing noise you can hear is the handwringing from British TV reviewers who love their restarted weekly dose of Game of Thrones but must make sure to tell their readers how appalled they are by the objectification of women and the gratuitous violence. That they remain surprised that the fourth season of the show for which the neologism “sexposition” was coined hasn’t suddenly converted to Guardian approved chin-stroking and Nordic knitwear covered leads is a little baffling.

Conlangs: looking at the language of Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Avatar and Star Trek

HOW invented are the languages you heard in Lord of the Rings, Avatar, Game of Throne and Star Trek?

In this TED Ed lessonJohn McWhorter talks of  “conlangs” (constructed languages), the languages of the including Klingon, Dothraki, Na’vi and the Elvish spoken in The Lord of the Rings’ Middle Earth:

“Tolkien charted out ancient and newer versions of Elvish. When the first Elves awoke at Cuiviénen, in their new language the word for people was kwendi, but in the language of one of the groups that moved away, Teleri, over time kwendi became pendi. Just like real languages, conlangs like Elvish split off into many. When the Romans transplanted Latin across Europe, French, Spanish, and Italian were born.”

There’s more on this sort of thing at the Language Creation Society.

Conlanging is the creation of constructed languages or conlangs, such as Esperanto, Lojban, or Klingon. A conlanger is someone who creates or constructs languages or conlangs.

Tirme to meet David Peterson, who developed Dothraki for Game of Thrones:

The Iron Throne Lifesize Replica: yours for $30,000

game of thrones iron throne

ITEM of the day: the Game of Thrones ‘The Iron Throne Lifesize Replica’:

Heavy is the head that wears the crown. And royal is the rear that sits the Iron Throne. The notoriously intimidating seat from the immensely popular HBO fantasy series can now be yours to own. This exact fiberglass replica was handmade, hand painted, and based on a 3D scan of the actual set piece from the TV show. Every detail has been faithfully reproduced, but luckily this model is a little less sharp and stabby than the actual seat. But remember, when you play the game of thrones, you win or…well, you’ll find out.
