More Proof That Global Warming Triggers Earthquakes

GLOBAL warming triggers the earthquke in Haiti and more quakes in Taiwan. NewKerala.com reports:

According to Prof McGuire, in Taiwan the lower air pressure created by typhoons was enough to “unload” the crust by a small amount and trigger earthquakes, reports the Scotsman.

Greenpeace Warlord Mean Gene Hashmi Declares War On Global Warming Demnier

GREENPEACE India’s communications director, Gene Hashmi, has declared war on you. And you. And you, you scum.

The proper channels have failed. It’s time for mass civil disobedience to cut off the financial oxygen from denial and scepticism. If you’re one of those who believe that this is not just necessary but also possible, speak to us. Let’s talk about what that mass civil disobedience is going to look like. If you’re one of those who have spent their lives undermining progressive climate legislation, bankrolling junk science, fuelling spurious debates around false solutions and cattle-prodding democratically-elected governments into submission, then hear this: We know who you are. We know where you live. We know where you work. And we be many, but you be few.

Ok, Gene the Mean, where do we sign up for the fight? Gene. Gene!? Turns out that Gene is in Thailand and has no internet access.

goodbye internet. see you in june. +8° 0′ 59.22″, +98° 50′ 5.22″ http://bit.ly/tonsai

Here’s what Greenpeace says:

Ananth Guruswamy, Greenpeace International’s programme director, has just posted this message in place of the offending blog:

You’ve probably come here to read a blog post written by our colleague Gene, in which he included the line addressing climate sceptics: “We know who you are. We know where you live. We know where you work. And we be many, but you be few.”

Well, we’ve taken down that post from our website. It’s very easy to misconstrue that line, take it out of context and suggest it means something wholly different from the practice of peaceful civil disobedience, which is what the post was about. Anyone who knows Gene knows he’s an entirely peaceful guy.

Here’s what he wrote:

What do you do when patient petitioning, protest marches and court orders fail? What do you do when all the protocols and cheat codes of democracy fail? This is what you do: you reclaim the language of democracy from the twisted bunch that have hijacked, cannibalized and subverted it.

Pressuring politicians on climate change is not working. We saw that in Copenhagen. Three months later, we also know why. Which is why the global climate movement now must do course-correction. We need to shift targets and go after the real termites that hollowed out and imploded Copenhagen.

Not Barosso, Obama or Wen Jiabao, but the real obstacles to the climate deal this planet deserves and demands. The oil and gas mafia running loose in New Delhi. The coal magnates that have Canberra by the short and curlies. The petrochemical giants that have placed a firm jackboot on the EU’s throat. The fossil fools and nuclear lobbyists that have Washington DC on speed-dial.

We need to hit them where it hurts most, by any means necessary: through the power of our votes, our taxes, our wallets, and more.

We need to be inclusive. We need to join forces with those within the climate movement that are taking direct action to disrupt the CO2 supply chain. We need to embrace the conservatives too, the ones that choose scientific rigour and court injunctions as their weapons.

And we need to inspire, engage and empower everyone in between… from the AirPlotters stopping the expansion of Heathrow by purchasing bits of the proposed runway to the volunteer activists that have been making life hell for fossil fuel lobbyists in the US.

Finally, we need to prove repeatedly, consistently, doggedly, that our alternative vision of a world that runs on clean energy isn’t just a prototype, it’s already in production.

Emerging battle-bruised from the disaster zone of Copenhagen, but ever-hopeful, a rider on horseback brought news of darkness and light: “The politicians have failed. Now it’s up to us. We must break the law to make the laws we need: laws that are supposed to protect society, and protect our future. Until our laws do that, screw being climate lobbyists. Screw being climate activists. It’s not working. We need an army of climate outlaws.”

The proper channels have failed. It’s time for mass civil disobedience to cut off the financial oxygen from denial and skepticism.

If you’re one of those who believe that this is not just necessary but also possible, speak to us. Let’s talk about what that mass civil disobedience is going to look like.

If you’re one of those who have spent their lives undermining progressive climate legislation, bankrolling junk science, fueling spurious debates around false solutions, and cattle-prodding democratically-elected governments into submission, then hear this:

We know who you are. We know where you live. We know where you work.

And we be many, but you be few.

Gene’s blog entry is about encouraging PEACEFUL civil disobedience – the kind of peaceful methods that liberated Gene’s country (India) from imperialism. Peaceful direct action is part of our core values.

Mean Green Gene is out there.

In France The Intergovernmental Panel On Climate Change Is A ‘Mafia-Like System’

IN Franc, there is a big heated debate on cliamte change. A new book called L’imposture climatique (The Climate Fraud) is selling well. Very well:

France’s National Academy of Sciences will hold an official debate on climate change to try to defuse this newly explosive issue.

The Academy of Sciences debate, expected to be held by October of this year, follows two months of heated debate on radio and television, during which France’s two most prominent sceptics, Claude Allegre and Vincent Courtillot [a member of the GWPF’s Academic Advisory Council], have sown great doubt in the minds of a once unskeptical French public. Allegre’s new book, L’imposture climatique (The Climate Fraud), has especially caused the French public to reconsider the conventional wisdom about global warming. In this runaway best-seller (110,000 copies sold to date), Allegre, France’s most celebrated scientist and a former Science Minister in a socialist government, calls the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a “mafia-like system” that promotes a “baseless myth” about climate change.

In an attempt to stop the erosion of their public support, some 410 establishment scientists petitioned the current science minster, asking her to rebuke the skeptics and to express confidence in the climate research community. Her response was to turn to France’s National Academy with a request for a debate on the subject. The Academy’s president, Jean Salençon, readily agreed in the hopes that an airing of the issues would calm some of the fury on the subject.

At least the debate will be open and honest. Unlike in the UK

Global Warring: Warming Leads To More Murders

GLOBAL warming will not make us chilled. Hell, no. Global warming will make us heat up and boil with rage. As Tim Blair says, this is why the old retire to Florida. They are looking to rumble. Iowa State researchers know the facts:

If global warming is a scientific fact, then you better be prepared for the earth to become a more violent place. That’s because new Iowa State University research shows that as the earth’s average temperature rises, so too does human “heat” in the form of violent tendencies …

Greens Losing War On Climate Change As Americans No Longer Care

WARNED by the invaluable Climate Depot, we learn of a Gallup Poll that tells us Americans are less worried about each of eight specific environmental problems than they were a year ago.

Furthermore, on all but global warming and maintenance of the nation’s fresh water supply, concern is the lowest Gallup has ever measured. Americans worry most about drinking-water pollution and least about global warming.

Making for a fascinating snapshot, we see that, over time, Americans’ concerns about environmental problems have generally declined. After this year’s drop, for six of the eight items, the percentage who worry “a great deal” is at the lowest point Gallup has measured, which in some cases dates to 1989.

Climatologist Judith Curry On That Settled Science

IN Discover magazine, there’s an interview with climatologist Judith Curry, who toils at Georgia Tech:

Q: Are you saying that the scientific community, through the IPCC, is asking the world to restructure its entire mode of producing and consuming energy and yet hasn’t done a scientific uncertainty analysis?

A: Yes.

The tide is turning…

Ed Miliband Opens Climate Change And Glee Club As Nursery Adverts Banned

ED Miliband is an expert on energy because on his name badge it says “energy secretary”. It’s a big important title, boys and girls – you Klimate Kops. So listen carefully while Ed tells you that the world is melting and drowning.

And this is Mr Ed , who has already told us:

The government needs to be saying, ‘It is socially unacceptable to be against wind turbines in your area – like not wearing your seatbelt or driving past a zebra crossing’.”

Now for a song in Ed’s Glee Club – putting the Band In Miliband:

“Rub a dub dub, three men in a tub — a necessary course of action due to flash flooding caused by climate change.”

God that, kidzzz? You are going to drown. Only, you’re not – yet. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) says Ed and his fellow teachers have been exaggerating the potential harm. There is no science to back up their teachings.

UN Says Man-Made Global Warming Indisputable – Now Let’s Check The Facts

THE New York Times says the UN will check the system to ensure that the “indisputable” narrative on man-made global warming is not undone by people finding out that the science is shoddy.

A group of top scientists from around the world will review the research and management practices of the United Nations climate change panel so that it can try to avoid the kinds of errors that have brought its work into question in recent months, officials said Wednesday.

Ban Ki-moon, the secretary general of the United Nations, said that the InterAcademy Council, a consortium of the world’s most prestigious scientific societies, would name scientists to take a thorough look at the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

The panel has come under sharp attack after revelations of several mistakes in its most recent report, published in 2007, including a poorly sourced and exaggerated account of how quickly the Himalayan glaciers are melting.

Scientists and officials say that the panel’s finding that the earth is warming–probably as a result of human activity–remains indisputable.

“Probably.” “Indisputable.” Such are the facts

52% Of Americans Still Think Threat Of Global Warming Not Exaggerated

NEARLY half of Americans – 48 percent – now believe the threat of global warming has been exaggerated. This is the highest level since polling began 13 years ago says a recent Gallup poll.

That category does not seem comparable with a poll in February when 47 percent thought long-term planetary trends rather than human activity was the primary cause of global warming up from 34 percent in April 2008.

However, both polls show the same downward trend in the willingness to accept climate alarmism, a significant factor in the US where climate measures are still live political issues and need popular assent for legislation to be enacted.

Imperfect though the US system might be, there is at least some check on the madness, as opposed to the UK and most of the rest of Europe which is saddled with EU law.

One has to believe, though – almost as an article of faith – that the madness must be running its course, although there is no sign of that some time yet. Going through the system this week is a consultation document on planning guidance for local councils, aimed at increasing the amount energy produced from renewable sources.

This is the handmaiden to the feed-in tariff which will effectively prevent councils and local residents blocking a rash of solar panels and micro windmills installed by granny robbers keen to get their snouts in the renewable energy trough.

The Global Warming Scam: The EU Pays Envronmental Groups To Lobby The EU

THE Policy Network has, very helpfully, partially updated the work we did on 18 July 2007 when we first discovered that the EU was paying environmental groups such as the Friends of the Earth Europe to lobby itself, writes Richard North.

To that effect, we are offered a report which analyses one programme of funding, in which DG Environment distributed over €66 million to environmental NGOs between 1998-2009.

Specifically, the report examines funds allocated to the so-called “Green 10” – a coalition of ten NGOs pushing for an “environmental” agenda in EU policy-making. It finds that nine out of the ten receive funds from the commission, eight receive one-third or more of their income from the commission, and five of those rely on the commission for more than half their funding.

We also learn that, from 1998 to 2009, there was a substantial increase in funds given by the Commission to environmental groups: from €2,337,924 (1998) to €8,749,940 (2009) – an average increase of 13 percent every year.

Global Warming: Introducing The Battery Farmed Methane Cow

ARE you ready for the battery farmed cow? It will save the world from cow-made global warming. An article in the Western Mail gives a clue as to what is going on, writes Richard North..

Under the heading, “House cattle – or we will have to sharply cut herds”, we learn of recommendations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from farming by permanently housing cattle, delivered to the Welsh rural affairs minister Elin Jones. They come from the Land Use Climate Change Group, established last year “to consider how agriculture and land use can reduce greenhouse gases and adapt to climate change.”

Global Warming Gets A Guardian Prophet: No Cartoons, Please

GLOBAL Warming is not a since. Global warming is religion. Peter Preston is in The Guardian, being upset that not enough it being down to scare the natives on “climate change.”

“… the plain fact is that we surely need a prophet, not yet another committee. We need one passionate, persuasive scientist who can connect and convince – not because he preaches apocalypse in gory detail, but in simple, overwhelming terms. We need to be taught to believe by a true believer in a world where belief is the fatal, missing ingredient.”

Humans Make Human Sacrifice For Global Warming

ONE of the more sinister aspects of the “climate change” miasma is the insistence of campaigners and governments that saving the planet requires personal sacrifice and significant changes in personal lifestyles. However, while we may be dimly aware of government exhortations along those lines, few people realise quite how much of our money is being spent on trying to make us change our ways, writes Richard North.

EU Top Thinker Says Global Warming Caused Chile Earthquake

A significant amount of that money is spent by one government department, DEFRA, on “behavioural research”, and a record of its recent expenditure provides a chilling testament to the Orwellian world of climate advocacy, where every aspect of our lives is coming under official scrutiny.

The record, which starts in 2005, has the University of Surrey doing a project called “Choice Matters”, exploring how to make sustainability “an automatic and primary part of producer and consumer choice, rather than a self-satisfying added extra.” This cost a relatively modest £21,775.

Fear Of The Fear Of Global Warming Kills Family

For £63,017 meanwhile, the University of Westminster carried out an analysis of existing research relating to “pro-environmental behavioural change”, aiming to contribute towards a better practical understanding of how DEFRA could influence behaviours.

Prius Kills Baby: Son Dies As Parents Raise Virtual Solution

Cranfield University, on the other hand, took on: “Sustainable development as a “collective choice” problem: theoretical and practical implications”. The aim if this research was to explore thoroughly the potential of a highly promising and unique body of research, known as “collective-action theory”, for achieving DEFRA’s goal of finding new ways of motivating people to produce and consume in a sustainable manner. This cost a mere £23,333.

Global Warming: The Independent Cannot See The Science For the Hype

IF opinion polls are right, fewer people “believe” in climate change now than a few months ago, prior to the leak of emails from the University of East Anglia and the emergence of embarrassing errors in one of the reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

The science of global warming, it seems, has taken a severe hit in terms of the public’s credulity, writes Richard North.

So says The Independent leader.

Fear Of The Fear Of Global Warming Kills Family

global-warming4THE media’s take on global warming is simply to spread the fear. You are going to die. Horribly. In fire. Or flood. Or ice. Gaia is a jihadi with mission to kil the human virus. Better if you hurry it along and top yourself, like them:

A seven-month-old baby girl survived three days alone with a bullet in her chest beside the bodies of her parents and toddler brother.

Argentines Francisco Lotero, 56, and Miriam Coletti, 23, shot their children before killing themselves after making an apparent suicide pact over fears about global warming.

Their son Francisco, two, died instantly after being hit in the back.

The Mainstream Media Rejects Man-Made Global Warming

THE debate on global warming has shifted in the mainstream media. Richard North tround-up the news:

CURRENTLY standing at 476, the comments on the Mail on Sunday piece on Phil Jones must be close to a record.

With the commentary from Anthony Watts on the original interview, with Roger Harrabin, there can be no doubt that something remarkable has just happened.

Add to that Jonathan Leake’s piece in The Sunday Times, headed “World may not be warming, say scientists”, then mix in with the article in The Daily Mail today – which refers to the Leake piece – and the indications are that we are close to, if not at, a tipping point.

There is some evidence that climate change could in fact make such massive snowstorms more common, even as the world continues to warm.

Facts. As the Indy told its readers:

Britain’s winter ends tomorrow with further indications of a striking environmental change: snow is starting to disappear from our lives.

Global Warming: Rajendra Pachauri Orders Asbestos For Fires

GLACIER GATE, Climate Gate, AmazonGate and now Rajendra Pachauri, head of the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, tells us that you can’t argue with the science:

They are people who say that asbestos is as good as talcum powder – and I hope they put it on their faces every day.

Richard North writes:

Pachauri is looking even more shaky, according to Ben Webster in The Times, as his allies peel away.

The latest is John Sauven, director of Greenpeace UK, who wants Pachauri replaced. He says of the Himalayan glaciers that the good doctor should have acted as soon as he had been informed of the “error”, even though issuing a correction would have embarrassed the IPCC on the eve of the Copenhagen climate summit.

“Mistakes will always be made,” says Sauven, “but it’s how you handle those mistakes which affects the credibility of the institution. Pachauri should have put his hand up and said ‘we made a mistake’. It’s in these situations that your character and judgment is tested. Do you make the right judgment call? He clearly didn’t.”

Pachauri is the man, of course, who when first confronted with doubts as to the glacier claim, dismissed their author as indulging in “voodoo science”, refusing even to countenance error. And now, under the tutelage of its master, the IPCC is repeating the mistake.

Amazongate: Blogs Beat MSM To Latest Climate Nonsense

AFTER ClimateGate and GlaciertGate, it’s AmazonGate.

The IPCC reported that global warming might wipe out 40% of the Amazon rainforest. Only, it  “was based on an unsubstantiated claim by green campaigners who had little scientific expertise.”

“Research” was based on a study published in Nature “which did not assess rainfall but in fact looked at the impact on the forest of human activity such as logging and burning. This weekend WWF said it was launching an internal inquiry into the study.”

Richard North looks at more global warming bollocks the mainstream media missed:

DESPITE the attempted sabotage of “Amazongate” by The Sunday Telegraph yesterday, the Daily Express does it big. The Guardian also mentions it and so does The Daily Mail.

The Daily Telegraph, on the ball as always, lifts the story done by The Times last Saturday on “Glaciergate”, disguising its source with the formulaic “it has emerged”.

GlacierGate: Pachauri Is Toast, Bin Laden Is An Al Gorean

GLACIERGATE: the great lie. Pachauri is toast. Bin Laden is an Al Gorean. And Richard North reports:

LESS than a week after he claimed the IPCC’s credibility had increased as a result of its handling of the “Glaciergate” scandal, Pachauri’s own personal credibility lies in tatters as The Times accuses him of a direct lie.

This is about when he first became aware of the false claim over the melting glaciers, Pachauri’s version on 22 January being that he had only known about it “for a few days” – i.e., after it had appeared in The Sunday Times.
