Venezuela: You Won’t Believe The Crap Hugo Chavez Spent The Bolivarian Revolution Oil Money On

In this April 24, 2014 photo, a sculpture decorated with newspaper clippings is on display near the site where anti-government student protesters are camping out in Bolivar square in the Chacao municipality of Caracas, Venezuela. The opposition is resuming talks with President Nicolas Maduro's government on Thursday, aimed at defusing the nation's political crisis. It's the fourth face-to-face meeting this month and expected to focus on calls by the opposition for amnesty for jailed activists. (AP Photo/Fernando Llano)

THIS is a story to really take the cake. So, Chavez in Venezuela, decided to start spending the oil money on improving the society. OK, that’s a good idea. But then we come to what he actually started spending the money on. Like a farm with no water. No, really:

Work on William Lara, the rural version of the Steel City, stopped last year after about $120 million was spent on clearing the land and building the first 176 houses.

The construction will resume after the government figures out a way of bringing water to the site 125 miles south of Caracas, Agriculture Minister Yvan Gil said.

“This is a technical problem, that our specialists are working to resolve,” Gil, 41, said in an interview in his Caracas office on April 10. “The project is advancing.”

That’s a pretty big thing to overlook when you’re planning a farm, where the hell’s the water going to come from?

Hugo Chavez funeral photos: a charismatic bigot who knew his crowd

HUGO Chávez has been lying in state in an open casket in Caracas. The poor looked on and in. Many wept. Elsewhere many wondered what next for the Axis of Diesel, the bond that links Venezuela to Iran, Cuba and Syria. Chavez expressed solidarity with Robert Mugabe, Colonel Gaddafi and President Assad. If you don’t like America – and America is not keen on you – Chavez was an ally-in-waiting. And he had charisma. In 2005, officials from Venezuela signed a deal to send cheap heating oil to the poor of Massachusetts. Local congressman William Delahunt called the deal “an expression of humanitarianism at its very best”. We thought America would get the oil, spin it on the money markets and sell it on at massive profit. It didn’t. Sure, Chavez was a bigot, a racist and violent, but he knew himself and he knew his crowd…

Rest In Power, Comandante! Thoughts on the death of Hugo Chavez

Argentina Chavez

CANCER gave Venezuela a bloodless coup when it claimed the life of Hugo Chavez, the country’s President.

Sean Penn liked him:

“Today the people of the United States lost a friend it never knew it had. And poor people around the world lost a champion. I lost a friend I was blessed to have. My thoughts are with the family of President Chavez and the people of Venezuela. Venezuela and its revolution will endure under the proven leadership of Vice President Maduro.”

Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez has died, presumed poisoned by parrot

hugo chavez

VENEZUELAN President Hugo Chávez has died. He had cancer. Or as Vice President Nicolas Maduro put it, he had poison, administered by “enemies of the fatherland”. He’s waiting for “scientific proof” that Mr Chávez was poisoned.

Tweeter arrested for saying Hugo Chavez is staying in Cuba

TO Venezuela, where the men of Sebin (Bolivarian National Intelligence Service) have arrested Federico Medina Ravell:

Venezuelan intelligence officers have raided the home of a Twitter user suspected of spreading destabilising rumours about the health of Hugo Chávez ahead of an inauguration that the ailing president looks increasingly unlikely to attend.
….
Medina, who was not at home, is accused of instigating terrorism through social networking sites. He is said to be behind the @LucioQuincioC Twitter account, which has claimed that Chávez will not return from Havana.

Hugo Chavez Finds Life On Mars

HUGO Chavez, keen to appear on the international news cycle, says capitalism might have ended life on Mars. Says the most famous face to emerge from Venezuela since Simón Bolívar shook the gold dust from his beard and declared the natives ripe for the taking:

“I have always said, heard, that it would not be strange that there had been civilization on Mars, but maybe capitalism arrived there, imperialism arrived and finished off the planet.”

Curse Ming the Merciless. Curse him and his ice-cream concessions!

Hugo Chavez’s First Blog Post Is Not Televised

HUGO Chavez, the leading socialist on the 24 omnibus to Camden and in Venzuela is getting a blog. And that’s just terrific because not too long ago Hugo was no fan of the web:

* “The Internet cannot be something open where anything is said and done. Every country has to apply its own rules and norms.”

That insight was spawned by German Chancellor Angel Merkel who, reprotedly, said soemthign similar. You know, Merkel, of whom Chavez says:

She is from the German right, the same that supported Hitler, that supported fascism, that’s the Chancellor of Germany today.

Oh, and he wanted to ban the locals from using Twitter as well:

* Chavez intends to ban Venezuelans from using twitter! Why?

Hugo Chavez See The Black Man

SAYS Hugo Chavez on the Black Man:

“We are not asking him to be a revolutionary, to be a socialist — no,” Chavez said at a political rally. We just want the black man who is about to be the U.S. president to have enough stature for the times the world is living through.

“I send an overture to the black man, from us here, who are of Indigenous, black, Caribbean, South American race,” he said.

We live in enlighted times…
