AT a Marks & Spencer’s in Dublin, the police are protecting potatoes. Yeah, Ireland imports potatoes. How knew? But better than this is the realisation that the spuds are under attack from members of the “Irish Anti War” movement. When people acclaims to be anti-war, Anorak always feels like saying we are pro war. Lots of lovely war. The movement is not protesting against all wars – its website singles out wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and Israel. You might suppose that wars only happen in the Middle East. And you would be right. They try to start them in New York and London, but the locals weren’t having any of it…
