While Julian Assange Preaches In London Bradley Manning Wallows In Rough Justice
FACE of the Day: Julian Assange was at Discussion, a talk at the Troxy in east London, where the WikiLeaks founder focused on the impact of his website on the world and what it means for the future.
Anorak overlooks the story and the marketing to consider two points – two facts:
1. Bradley Manning, accused WikiLeaks leaker, is in jail. Were his motives noble? He said what he wanted to achieve:
hopefully worldwide discussion, debates, and reforms – if not, than [sic] we’re doomed – as a species – i will officially give up on the society we have if nothing happens – the reaction to the [Collateral Murder] video gave me immense hope; CNN’s iReport was overwhelmed; Twitter exploded – people who saw, knew there was something wrong . . . Washington Post sat on the video… David Finkel acquired a copy while embedded out here. . . . – i want people to see the truth… regardless of who they are… because without information, you cannot make informed decisions as a public.

Julian Assange Blames The Gay Jews At The Guardian: Private Eye Discussions
IN Private Eye, where Anorak’s Ed toils on weekend, Ian Hislop reports a phone conversation he had withJulian Assange two weeks ago. The piece is called A Curious Conversation With Mr Assange.
Assange was upset at the Private Eye story about Wikleaks’s Russian rep Israel Shamir. Incidentally, it was Assange who told us:
“I’m not the Jewish people, but the people who believe in freedom of speech and accountability [are in the same boat].
Assange asserted that he hardly knew Shamir. And it was all a smear, fomented by the Guardian and its shibboleth of Jews. Yep, the Guardian is in the control of Jews. You have now heard it all.
[H]e went on to say that we were part of a conspiracy led by the Guardian which included journalist David Leigh, editor Alan Rusbridger and John Kampfner from Index on Censorship—all of whom “are Jewish.”
I pointed out that Rusbridger is not actually Jewish, but Assange insisted that he was “sort of Jewish” because he was related to David Leigh (they are brothers-in-law). When I doubted whether his Jewish conspiracy would stand up against the facts, Assange suddenly conceded the point. “Forget the Jewish thing.”

St Julian Assange Used To Love Sweden, Then
JULIAN Assange: Natalie Rothschild looks at how the Wikileaks founder has turned on Sweden, the country he once loved. What happened?
JULIAN Assange and his legal team have decided to play on a kind of Superman/secular Jesus image, presenting the Wikileaks founder as the victim of a global crusade against a bringer of truth and upholder of justice. Two major forces are conspiring to nail him, they suggest: misandrist Sweden and superpower America.
Assange and his lawyers effectively turned the magistrates’ court into a kind of phantasmagoria, projecting images of Sweden as a banana republic where Assange will be tried for ‘sex by surprise’ by man-hating prosecutors before being taken away by CIA agents, ready to force him into an orange jumpsuit and whisk him off to Guantanamo Bay or even put him on death row.
Before the sex charges, Assange had a very different view of Sweden. He had been promised a column in the tabloid Aftonbladet and planned to seek Swedish citizenship. He praised Sweden for its openness, transparency and high degree of protection for whistleblowers. This, after all, is the country that spawned Pirate Bay and Banhof, the company that hosts Wikileaks’ servers in a nuclear-proof bunker.
Oh, how things have changed. Now, Assange sees Sweden as ‘the Saudi Arabia of feminism’. And his celebrity backers agree, lining up to accuse Sweden of being a global bully. Leftie war reporter John Pilger said Sweden ‘should be ashamed’. Feminist writer Naomi Wolf wrote a letter to Interpol, accusing Sweden of acting as a ‘global dating police’ (apparently with no sense of irony). Bumbling filmmaker Michael Moore wrote a letter to the Swedish government accusing it of ‘cynically and disgustingly using the real and everyday threat that exists against women everywhere to help further the American government’s interest in silencing the work of Wikileaks’. – Read on…

Wikileaks: Julian Assange Takes Credit For Egypt Revolution
IF Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is right and his website did trigger revolution in Tunisia and Egypt, is he responsible for any deaths there? Assange once claimed Wikileaks had changed the regime in Kenya and led to the deaths of 1,300 people:
“1,300 people were eventually killed, and 350,000 were displaced. That was a result of our leak.”

WIKILEAKS and Julian Assange: Another days and with another media frenzy at the court where Julian Assange is fighting extradition to Sweden.
In court, we raised an eyebrow as Assange’s lawyer Björn Hurtig stood in the witness box and alleged that Swedish prosecutors had leaked information to the press. Oh, the irony.
Assange has been accused of rape in Sweden. The alleged victim claims she wanted him to wear a condom (photos), and he didn’t. refused to wear a condom against their wishes.

Julian Assange And Rudolph Elmer Go Nuclear: Wikileaks Targets The Rich
TO the FrontLine club, then, where WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is on hand to accept two CDs from former Swiss banker and whistleblower, Rudolf Elmer. He is to stand trial accused of stealing information from Julius Baer banks, where he worked as chief operating officer.
As he said:
“Once you become part of senior management,” he says, “and gain international experience, as I did, then you are part of the inner circle – and things become much clearer. You are part of the plot. You know what the real products and service are, and why they are so expensive. It should be no surprise that the main product is secrecy … Crimes are committed and lies spread in order to protect this secrecy.”
On the discs he hands over with great fanfare is information on about 40 politicians along with hundreds of business people, multinational conglomerates (Vodafone?) and figures from the art world.

WIKILEAKS founder Julian Assange is unhappy with all that American rhetoic (but not the hysteria) in light of the Jared Loughton murders and calls to have him sentenced to death in the US. He goes on Twitter and says: “Wikileaks: Treat incitement seriously or expect more Gabrielle Gifford killing sprees.”
And then says:
“But when senior politicians and attention seeking media commentators call for specific individuals or groups of people to be killed they should be charged with incitement – to murder. Those who call for an act of murder deserve as significant share of the guilt as those raising a gun to pull the trigger.”

Overseas Press Club Of American Rejects Julian Assange
JULIAN Assange says he’s a journalist, like Nick Davies (and him). Others say he is a technical expert. But the Wikileaks founder is not popular with all of his chosen profession.

Julian Assange Signs Book Deal With Company That Lied About Its Nazi Past
JULIAN Assange, of Wikileaks, has signed a book deal worth $1.5million. That’s not too shabby. Will it be enough for Assange to keep back a few leaks for the serialisation?
And does he need the money? On the Forums, reader Cheryl points to an article that says Assange has taken a 66,000 Euros salary from Wikileaks. CBS declares:
Wau Holland has paid a total of 100,000 Euros in salaries to the entire WikiLeaks staff, which means Assange is getting the lion’s share.
Reader Yampster take a different view:
So he’s really raking it in then. 😉
In all the German-based Wau Holland Foundation collected about $1.3 million in donations in 2010 on behalf of WikiLeaks. It will be interesting to see how much cash came from the New York Times, The Guardian and others who got early access to the leaks.
