Man arrested for eating the koran
To Yorkshire in search of an idiot:
Police have arrested a 19-year-old teenager for allegedly videoing himself chewing and burning a Qur’an. According to the Yorkshire Standard, the video shows a man ripping apart an english translation of the holy Islamic text using his teeth before throwing it into a toilet and setting it alight.
The suspect, who has not been named, was arrested by police on suspicion of a racially or religiously aggravated public order offence.
Superintendent Mabs Hussain, Leeds District Police, tells media:
“The arrested man has been released on bail to an alternative location. We are aware of strong feelings expressed by a number of people in response to this video. We would again urge people to allow this investigation to run its course and remind members of the public that we will take robust action against anyone who acts outside of the law.”
One question: did anyone actually see it?
The police were contacted by the Yorkshire Standard for a clarification on whether the man did rip the Koran, put it in a toilet and burn it. The police refused to confirm or go into detail. The video was deemed as an offensive video.
More questions:
Was it his toilet? Was it his bin? Was it his koran? It was his teeth, we presume. If it was all in private, then what has this private idiocy to do with the State?
Is the thinking that if the police don’t stamp out a man’s right to free expression, however stupid it is, others will think it a good idea and burn copies of the koran? Will jihadis use an idiot and his idiocy to further their own bloodthirtsty idiocy?

Middlesbrough ‘Superfan’Middlesbrough ‘Superfan’ Julie Philips, 51, has been banned from entering every football ground across the country after being caught tearing pages out of a Koran in the crowd during her side’s 2-2 draw away against Birmingham City last December.
Boro fan Julie Phillips, 51, was found guilty and fined for using “religiously aggravated threatening or insulting behaviour” by Birmingham Magistrates’ Court back in May, with Teesside Magistrates’ Court following up today by banning her from every single football ground in England and Wales for the next three years.
As the Birmingham Magistrates’ Court heard, Phillips was caught on stadium CCTV producing a copy of the Koran from her handbag during the game at St. Andrews before proceeding to tear up the pages and throw them into the air “like confetti” while reportedly chanting adorable little ditties about stabbing Muslims with bayonets.
In her defence, Phillips explained that football fans often tear up paper to use as confetti and that she had absolutely no idea the book she was carrying around in her handbag was the Islamic holy text.
Philips is a vicious idiot. But are her antics thought crimes?

MICHAEL Adebolajo is not shy. The 28-year-old accused of murdering Lee Rigby in a barabric sacrifice to his god kissed the Koran as he left the dock at Westminster Magistrates’ Court. Before leaving – we’ll see him next at the Old Bailey – the suspect told Deputy Chief Magistrate Emma Arbuthnot that he wanted to be adressed as Mujahid Abu Hamza. He said:
“I am only a man, I would like to alleviate the pain.”

Dennis Prager takes a view on the alleged killers’ claims that the murder of Lee Rigby was an act of righteous vengeance:
Here’s a question for Muslims and leftists who buy this argument about the West killing Muslims in Afghanistan: Who are we fighting in Afghanistan?
I thought the Brits and Americans were fighting the Taliban, the people who throw acid in Muslim girls’ faces for attending school, the people who murder nurses who inoculate Muslim children against disease. Now, if fighting the Taliban is to be equated with fighting Muslims, this is a real contradiction of everything much of the Islamic world and virtually all of the left have been contending for years – that the Taliban represent a tiny group of extremists in the Muslim world, and that they have so completely perverted Islam that they cannot even be called Muslims.
Well, you can’t have it both ways. If killing the Taliban is the same as “killing Muslims,” then you can’t argue that the Taliban don’t represent Islam or Muslims.
So, on the issue of the West fighting in Afghanistan, the Muslims and the left need to make up their minds: Is killing the Taliban a service or a disservice to Muslims? This is the first and last question both groups need to answer. Everything else is commentary.

Expelled Indonesian schoolgirls face jail for dancing to Maroon 5
TO Tolitoli, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, where five girls are condemned for dancing to a Maroon 5 song. All five have been expelled from school. They are banned from taking exams. They could end up in juvenile detention for “tainting religion”.
We don’t know who posted the video online, just that it was being shared around their girl’s home town when a teacher at their school saw it and grassed them to he thought police.

Why did Sara Ege beat ‘always smiling’ son for months before killing him?
SARA Ege, 33, beat her son, Yaseen, to death in 2010. She then burnt his body. Yaseen was 7. At Cardiff Crown Court, she’s been sentenced to life behind bars. Sara Ege was born in India. She wanted her son to be a hafiz. For that, he needed to learn the Koran off by heart.For three months, Sara Ege beat her son with a wooden pestle at the family home in Pontcanna, Cardiff.
The words of Peter Murphy, defending, are odd:
“It’s very easy to be critical of the amount of things Yaseen was doing, but that was the norm in the ethnic community she was from. You can see this from the number of other children who were doing Arabic and Koran classes. Yaseen grew up with it and he thoroughly enjoyed it.”

Five die in Koran burning protests
WHEN copies of the Koran were set alight at the US Bagram airbase military base in Afghanistan – they were tossed into a fire pit used for rubbish – Afghanis reacted with predictable anger. News is that five people had been killed and many more hurt.
Last year, lives were lost when protesters furious at the burning of a Koran by juvenile attention-seeking Florida pastor Terry Jones stormed a UN compound.
General John Allen, the US commander in Afghanistan, said the texts “were inadvertently taken to an incineration facility”.

Daily Mail Uses Koran Burning EDL Member To Attack Muslims
TODAY’S anti-Muslim story is brought to you by the ever-busy “Daily Mail Reporter”. Andy Ryan, 32, and, reportedly a member of the English Defence League, has been sent to jail for 70 days for burning a copy of the Koran he stole from a library in Carlisle.
The story is not about Muslims. The story is about a thief who burns books.
But in the Mail the news becomes:
A man has been jailed for 70 days today after he burnt a copy of the Koran just over a month after a Muslim got away with a paltry £50 fine for a similar offence.

TERRY Jones is the pastor who wants you to burn the Koran on September 11 – International Burn a Koran Day. He’s bought lots of Korans for his followers at the Dove World Outreach Centre in Gainesville in Florida – 50 of them. But there are believed to be more copies of the work in circulation (some as far a field as North Carolina). Mr Jones does not say it is the solution, but it is a start.
It’s all seen as brewing up more trouble for the US forces in Afghanistan, giving the enemy more reason to try and blow the allied soldiers to smithereens.
Maybe Jones and his followers should have wrapped Korans in US Flag first and meet the enemy half way?

The imprint was of interest: while Jones appeared to be a marginal figure, allied to Fred Phelps but repudiated by everyone else because of his plans for a Koran book-burning, Creation House is owned by the influential neo-Pentecostal media empire Strang Communications. It seemed to me that perhaps Jones, who had been part of the controversial Maranatha organisation in the 1980s, was not as far out on the fringe as he appeared.
