Leyton Orient is now twinned with North Korea: read the chief executive bizarre stament

Leyton Orient FC have issued a bizarre statement concerning the club’s future. When owner Francesco Becchetti took over in 2014, they were League One play-off finalist, narrowly lowing to Rotherham on penalties. They are now close to the bottom of League Two. In that time Orient have employed NINE managers. No player from that play-off final defeat remains at the club.

Leyton Orient’s chief executive, Alessandro Angelier has written to the fans. It’s not unlike something the North Korean would put out.

“The actions of the club over the past two-and-a-half years have always been in good faith and that can never be doubted. Mr Becchetti did not like the fan protests because at the beginning of the season everyone, supporters included, praised the club for their summer transfer business. Thereafter Mr Becchetti doesn’t play on Saturday.

“I think that within common sense, Mr Becchetti will continue to fund the club, though appropriate offers for the club will be considered. One offer has been received, but it was not acceptable for a number of reasons.”

Names are named.

“In regards to player departures … Jordan Bowery’s contribution during the first half of the season was imperceptible, so his departure can be considered neutral.

“[The players at the club now have] a massive desire that was lacking from players in the past like Darius Henderson, Jobi McAnuff and Jordan Bowery.”

And then this:

“I think that my absence due to ill health could have had some negative effect, but I believe even further that the absence of Mr Becchetti during the last three months has had a more negative impact on the squad.

“His personal business did not allow him to be close to the team, when he would usually come to the training ground every Friday and to the games on a Saturday.

“Mr Becchetti has a great charisma and the players definitely feel his absence.”

Former Liverpool player arrested for shoplifting: Steven Gerrard and Glen Johnson are innocent

Screen shot 2015-04-08 at 15.37.28‘Former Liverpool full-back’ Andrea Dossena, 33, has been arrested on suspicion of shoplifting. The Italian, currently running out for Leyton Orient in League One, was arested along with a 31-year-old woman for allegely shoplifting at Harrods, the Knightsbridge superstore.

Metropolitan Police state:

“Police arrested a 33-year-old male and a 31-year-old woman on April 7 on suspicion of shoplifting at Harrods. They were taken to a west London police station. Both the man and woman have been bailed to a date in late April, pending further enquiries.”

He’s not the first man who have worn Liverpool red to have shoplited:

Steven Gerrard:

“I grabbed a few pens and paper from Woolworths and made a dash for the door but the security guard grabbed me. I thought it was all over. I thought the club would drop me. And I was convinced the school would expel me.”

And, of course, the greatest of them all…

Glen Johnson:

The biggest one was the toilet seat,” he says. “I was with a mate who was doing up his bathroom and he wanted to buy a set where you get everything together. I’d never bought a bathroom like that in my life, and neither had he, so we banged it on the trolley. But we took out the toilet seat and got another one that had a slow-close lid so it wouldn’t trap his kid’s fingers.

“What we didn’t know was that it was £2.35 more than the one that should have been in the box. Then we went through the till, my mate paid for it and then this security guy stopped us and said he had been watching us on CCTV and seen us swapping the toilet seats.”

Give the Olympic stadium to Leyton Orient and make them Team GB FC

THE London 2012 Olympic stadium would make crap football ground. Sure, West Ham United fans want a shiny new place, but surely not that one. The club’s manger Sam Allardyce is, however, like his bosses, keen for the Hammers to relocate to the massive bowl:

“If they keep it for athletics, the only time it will ever get a big crowd again after the Olympics is when they hold the World Championships there in five years’ time. You only have to look around the world at some of the Olympic Stadiums that have been built. They’re white elephants now. There are weeds growing there. Look at the ‘Bird’s Nest’ in Beijing. Look at Athens.”

West Ham Want You To Pay For Their Local Greed: We’re Backing Spurs And Orient

WEST Ham want to move into the Olympics Stadium. Tottenham also want to. If Spurs get the nod, then West Ham are stuffed. What boy in North-east London not already supporting Manchester United would turn down a trip to Spurs’ purpose built new ground and Premier League football in favour of a trip to  Championship Upton Park? Spurs would be parking their tanks on West Ham’s lawns.

Then Newham Council decided in the face of legal wrangling to not give its bed partners West Ham a £40m loan; the Government decreed that any tenant would have to keep the stadium’s running track for 125 years, thus scuppering Spurs original plans for an excellent privately-financed single-purpose football ground; the taxpayer – yep, you! – will have to pay for the stadium to be turned into a 60,000 arena to be rented out for £2million a year; and West Ham will seek to play football in an at-best half-full ground  (unless they are playing a bigger team or are bought by a very rich and very vain lunatic who also buys great players).
