Peaches Geldof drops massive clanger in Ian Watkins case

THE whole story around the Ian Watkins trial has been ghoulish and difficult to read about. Aside from the obvious victims involved, you have to feel for fans of The Lostprophets, Watkins’ band mates and those who worked with them, unknowing of what went on. The whole tale is beyond grim at every level.

People’s response to the whole thing isn’t helping either, determined to find out every grisly detail, just to stoke their own horror at it all, so they can attempt some kind of moral highground online, to people who already agree with them.

Lostprophets announce split as singer faces grim sex charges

PA-8261590

IN a move that should be met with “No shit!” and “Urgh, what to do?”, Lostprophets have announced that they’re splitting up in the face of frontman Ian Watkins imminent trial for sex offences, which make for particularly grim reading.

The group, who have been making a racket since 1997, announced the news on their Facebook page, saying: “After nearly a year of coming to terms with our heartache, we finally feel ready to announce publicly what we have thought privately for some time. X Factor At The Union Chapel: Lostprophets, King Blues And The Black Out

BEFORE Simon Cowell brought us his finishing school for music with modules in X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent and Pop Idol – with special points for anyone able to shorten their name into something that can fit into text message (Jedward, Subo etc.) – there was talent.

Here’s the news: there still is talent and new music. It’s just not on the tell any more. It’s at the 2009 Mencap Little Noise Sessions at the Union Chapel in London, in the form of Ian Watkins of Lostprophets, King Blues and The Black Out. We were there. We’ve got pictures:
