Why Zuckerberg wants everyone to have the Internet as a ‘human right’
MARK Zuckerberg, the billionaire behind Facebook, has just announced that he’s joining forces with other tech firms in order to try and bring the internet to everyone. One the grounds that internet access for the 4 billion humans that don’t currently have it is akin to a human right:
Mark Zuckerberg’s altruistic finger is twitching just as usage of his free content ad network appears to have plateaued.
In a post on his personal Facebook account, Zuck asked: “Is connectivity a human right?”
An actual human right, no, that sounds a little too far. The right to free speech, to association, to a fair trial, yes, these are indeed human rights. But to an internet connection? No, I think not.

Priscilla Chan’s guide to marrying a billionaire like Mark Zuckerberg (photos)
PRISCILLA Chan is now what Americans call Mrs Mark Zuckerberg. . Husband and wife now both get to call Mrs Zuckeberg ‘mom’. Psychiatrists, take that and run with it. Can is, of course, the Harvard graduate who presented Zuckenberg with a list of dating rules when she moved to be near him in Palo Alto, according to Sarah Lacy’s book Once You’re Lucky, Twice You’re Good. As the book told us:
One date per week, a minimum of a hundred minutes of alone time, not in his apartment and definitely not at Facebook.

Facebook artists earns milllions – praise be Mark Zuckerberg
ARE we all about to hate Facebook, the 1% that aims to own information on the 100%? If a Government wanted to harvest data like Facebook does, there would a huge row. Yet we give it to Facebook and Google willingly.
Nell Jensen writes:
Facebook just released its first-ever official financial numbers as part of its filing to go public, and they’re very impressive. One billion dollars in annual profit impressive. Also: Much of humankind is hopelessly addicted to Facebook. Facebook tallied $1 billion in profit last year on $3.7 billion in revenue, revenue that has been roughly doubling for each of the past two years. The company ended 2011 with $3.9 billion in cash

What Time Magazine’s Person of the Year Says About Corporate Media
ON the 14th of December it was reported that Julian Assange had overwhelmingly won the “people’s choice” person of the year via Time Magazine’s website. On December 15th, the magazine announced that they have named Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, Person of the Year (Zuckerberg was 10th for People’s Choice), writes J. Smith.
Time chose an interesting way to lead the story, a discussion about “privacy”:
“On the afternoon of Nov. 16, 2010, Mark Zuckerberg was leading a meeting in the Aquarium, one of Facebook’s conference rooms, so named because it’s in the middle of a huge work space and has glass walls on three sides so everybody can see in. Conference rooms are a big deal at Facebook because they’re the only places anybody has any privacy at all, even the bare minimum of privacy the Aquarium gets you. Otherwise the space is open plan: no cubicles, no offices, no walls, just a rolling tundra of office furniture. Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s COO, who used to be Lawrence Summers’ chief of staff at the Treasury Department, doesn’t have an office. Zuckerberg, Facebook’s CEO and co-founder and presiding visionary, doesn’t have an office.”

Time Values Secrecy Over Openness: Mark Zuckerberg Beats Julian Assange
THE Time person of the year is not Julian Assange. The Wikileaks founder is not the face of big media. Instead the media organ loves Mark Zuckerberg, head of Facebook, the data harvesting Colossus you feed.
Telling the world you’ve had crab sticks for dinner is now officially more important as telling the world that Silvio Berlusconi had crab sticks for dinner (and by crab sticks we mean young women double-dipped in an imported marie rose sauce.)
People Worried By Facebook Privacy Join MyPinNumber.co.uk
MARK Zuckerberg’s Facebook is going to take your privacy issues seriously. All those millions of you that uploaded photos of your mum, your kids, your home, your collection of toenail clippings, listed your likes and dislikes, told us your mother’s maiden name, your height, commented on your sex life and your pet causes and showed off your friends can now rest assured that your privacy is sacrosanct.
Now, you’ll be able to make your stuff private by clicking a box saying “private”. And it will be private, visible to only Facebook company workers and whoever gets into the system.
