Massive Supergiant prawn found off coast of New Zealand – photo
BIG Prawns. The sole reason to live in Australia or New Zealand: shellfish as big as your face. And now those big prawns have got massive. Massive prawns!
A giantic crustacean has been found living 7km below the surface in the Kermadec Trench off the coast of New Zealand. Scientists – and who are we to argue with experts – call these massive prawns “supergiants”. One is 34cm long. Giant! SUPERGIANT!
Alan Jamieson, from the University of Aberdeen’s Oceanlab, tells the BBC:
“It’s a bit like finding a foot-long cockroach.”
