Obama Debated Hurricane Irene Out Of Existence: Hurricane Hype In 100 Photos

HURRICANE Irene hit the USA. Bits of America are changed. By the time the hurricane hit New York it had been downgraded to a tropical storm. Still, 12 people died. Between three are four million people lost power.

But what was unusual was that this hurricane was going to hit New York. And in New York live lots and lots of media workers. This hurricane would be the most talked about hurricane of all time.

One Vanity Fair writer, a James Wolcott, would cheer on this hurricane like he has cheered on other hurricanes that hit places in the world far removed from his desk and cats.
