NICOLAS SARKOZY is the new President of France. Nicolas Sarkozy on 53% of the popular vote beats Ségolène Royal on 47%.

He wants friendly relations with the United States. Washington can “count on our friendship,” says Sarkozy. But “friendship means accepting that friends can have different opinions.”

Hurrah for Sarkozy.

Now one last thing to decide.

As Radio Suisse writes:

“Trente-quatre voitures ont été brûlées à Paris dans la nuit de samedi à dimanche avant le second tour de la présidentielle française. Les entrées de plusieurs bureaux de vote ont été bloquées par des vandales.”
