Ken Livingstone’s Chum Hugo Chavez And Freedom Of Speech
LONDON mayor Ken Livingstone called Hugo Chavez, leader of Venezuela, “the best news out of Latin America in many years”.
And: “I have long had the greatest admiration for the extraordinary courage and tenacity with which you have acted to improve the lives of the people of Venezuela and resolutely resisted external pressures to alter the just and progressive course of your government.”
Wonder what Ken makes of this?
CARACAS (Reuters) - Tens of thousands of Venezuelan protesters marched on Saturday to the Caracas headquarters of an anti-government television station, which is being forced off the air after President Hugo Chavez’s administration refused to renew its broadcasting license.
Waving flags with the logo of RCTV, demonstrators packed the streets of the capital where news anchors and soap opera stars slammed the imminent closure of the opposition channel.
“What is happening here is simply the silencing of a television station,” shouted soap opera actress Gledys Ibarra.

Ken has been camping out next to the grave of Karl Marx again.
I hope he hasn’t been frying bangers for breakfast because the greasy smoke will collect on the bust of Marx and draw flies, like it has in Venezuela.
Hugo feeds the flies with the fat of his oil money and the flies join Hugo’s army and demonstrate for more.
Maybe the oil platforms in Venezuela will begin to look like those in Nigeria, covered with tar and grease from morning fires and the flies will get fat off the spam.
