Madeleine McCann Suspect Robert Murat Is Suicidal
ROBERT Murat is suspect number one in the case of Madeleine McCann. He is the only suspect. Read the case against him here.
As the Sunday Peopel reports his aunt Sally Everleigh tsays new DNA evidence will reveal her nephew did not kidnap Madeleine.
Sally, 56, said: “Robert is completely innocent but his life has been ruined by the most disgusting and cruel allegations imaginable.
“His only crime was wanting to do anything he could to help find a missing four-year-old girl.
“As a father himself, he knew Kate and Gerry McCann must have been going through hell.
“But, suddenly he was accused of taking Madeleine himself - and branded a paedophile, a pervert and God knows what else.”
She said Murat, 33 - whose daughter Sofia is Maddie’s age - has been driven to the brink of suicide since he was arrested 11 days after the tot vanished.

“Everything he says is twisted because people believe the sick gossip.
“If the police would allow it, he says hewould happily take a lie detector test to prove his innocence. But would that put an end to this?
“He has had hate mail - really awful stuff - and he thinks he will get physically attacked in the street.
“Someone went up to his mother the other day and shouted, ‘Give that child back!’

He is innocent until proven guilty. As far as the porn, many innocent people have this stuff on their computer accidentally - it downloads itself through pop-ups, etc. I truly think that Murat is a kind person who wanted to help a family in distress.

even if they cant prove his guilty doesnt mean his innocent,these days it hard to prove someones guilty, due to lack of evidence one of his ex workers in uk has also commented on how he liked his porn including children i am not saying i think he was for sure he was involed in madeleine’s abduction but child porn does not come on your computer through pop ups, alot of people think murat is another huntley too keen to help and turned out to be the killer!

i totally agree with clare anyone who has anything to do with CHILD porn should be shot and that would be to good fo them! im sure his house wouldnt have been searched just because he “wanted to help” there is more to it!.
As for child porn accidentally popping up on your computor ! certinally not,it is sick and there are to many people protecting these monsters making this world an evil place.

We don’t actually know if they found child porn on his computer, or any videos etc.
Interesting though that the Portuguese police have not made a statement to clear his name. They have him as a suspect for a reason.
The police did make a statement saying they found evidence of a ‘relevant sexual history’.
It would only be ‘relevant’ if it involved children, otherwise it would just be adult porn. Adult porn would not be relevant and would not implicate someone in the abduction of a child.
Just because he has a daughetr the same age, doesn’t make him innocent either. Just because he has a girlfriend doesn’t make him innocent.
The PJ must have known when they released that statement that the public would assume they meant child porn on his PC. Why would they allow these rumours to circulate if they were categorically untrue? In the interest of his safety they should release a statement denying that they found this stuff on his pc. Unless, of course, they did find child porn on his pc.
It’s a strange situation.

there has been evidence of child porn on his computer it has been said on the internet, different sites inc anorak,one ex worker of his mentioned he was really into porn and showed a unhealthy interest in children,i do agree if they hadny actually found child porn on his pc then the portuguse should give a statement saying that to help clear his name, but he does seem a very strange person,if he was innocent why pace up and down and have thoughts of killing himself if he has nothing to hide,you would think if he was innocent he would go out and show his face,i dont think he took madeleine myself but i think its possible he had something to do with that, strange how hw was on the phone to that russian guy half an hour after madeleine went missing ( maybe to see if the abductor had got the child ? ) and again a hour or so later ( maybe to see if they had got her over the border, considering he had’nt spoke to this russian guy in ages strange how they talked on that night and the russian guy wiped his computer before the police took him for questioning,loks like he had something to hide.

I agree Clare that it does look very suspicious, but he is innocent until proven guilty.
Also, just because ‘it has been said on the internet’ doesn’t actully mean it is true. Especially if it comes out of Anorak’s mouth.
It would make everyones life much easier if it was Murat. (except murat and family). It would mean that the police had a concrete lead and were very close to finding Madeleine. Wanting it to be Robert Murat, and it being Robert Murat are two different things and they need to be separated.
About him being suicidal, if innocent, I find that understandable. If you were innocent and suddenly everyone in the world was calling you a paedophile, threatening to kill you, attack you, threatening your elderly mother etc, life would not be very nice.
His business will have suffered, his relationship will have suffered, he won;t be able to go out in public without people yelling abuse at him.
It is true that there are parts of his story that are very suspicious, like the late night phonecall, the rented car, the ‘relevant sexual history’ comment by the portuguese police, the fact that he is STILL a suspect (which was a status set by the police, not voluntarily by himself).
Personally, I can;t decide whether I think he is involved or not. Whether he was involved in her disappearance I don;t know, but one thing is for certain, he had something to hide. Wiping your PC before the police arrive is the action of a guilty man. Guilty of what though?

Joanne, I must agree with your comments. INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY is the way people should view this situation.
I am from South Africa and belong to an organisation that searches for missing children. Emotions cannot be allowed to get in the way of sane judgement.
Another thing that people need to remember is that things that are read in newspapers and on the web are strictly HEARSAY! Stories are twisted by the media more often than not. People who make insinuations about others in public because of things that they have read, could land themselves in very hot water - Clare you really need to be a bit more careful about how you express yourself.
I fully understand that people are very emotional about this case, and want a positive conclusion as soon as possible, but “branding” someone for life, because they were a “suspect” is not the answer. If, Robert Murat is found to be involved in the kidnapping of Madeleine, then yes, point as many fingers at him as you like, but until such time, people should refrain from throwing unfounded accusations and self-opinions around.
Clare, whilst I am also TOTALLY against anything to do with pornography, wether it be with children or adults for that matter, it does not necessarily mean that if someone has this filth on their PC, that they are a paedophile or a pervert.
I can also fully understand that if Robert Murat is innocent of the kidnapping (or anything to do with it) of Madeleine, that he can be suicidal. If this man IS innocent, his life has been ruined!
There are many, many documented cases of people who have been convicted of awful crimes with overwhelming evidence against them, that have, after many years been proven innocent.
PLEASE don’t judge until you are sure !

There must have been an ‘insider’ in this case for the kidnapper to know that there was a window of opportunity to take the child while the parents were at the restaurant, particularly as the parents were going back to the apartment on a regular basis to check the three children. Seems strange that Murat had child porn on his PC. And same night he contacts the computer buff. Coincidence??
Personally I don’t think so.

We were all fooled by Ian Huntley and it is obvious we don’t want the same thing to happen again but have we not learnt anything from the past tragedies?
Nobody is guilty until proved but does it not follow that nobody is completely innocent until proved too? There must be someone somewhere who knows more than they are telling and does this not make them guilty? Why can’t the British Police take over from the Portugese Police and get it sorted in a sensible and efficient manner? Maybe not protocol but the McCann’s are british and the Portugese have weird laws and even weirder ways of dealing with it.
I sincerely hope that the little girl is found safe and soon, no matter who solves the mystery of Maddy’s disapperance.
My thoughts and prayers are with the McCann family.

Its possible all Murat is hiding is things from the tax man.
Take Julie’s advice and be very careful of what you say that could lead to litigation against you. You are of course entitled to your opinion, but be very certain you have hard evidence to back it up.

Yes Kelly, I DO work for a MISSING CHILDREN’s organisation, that is the exact reason why I have an alert on my computer for ANYTHING that comes up regarding Madeleine. That is how I came across this site in the first place! If you think my intention here is to purely judge what people are saying, you are sorely mistaken!
The work I do, (incidentally for FREE!!! and any costs incurred by myself and the others in this particular organisation are carried by ourselves), is not easy, and where I see that people are erring in what they are saying, and thereby leaving themselves open to possible further “implications”, then I like to warn them of the possible consequences of their actions.
If people are offended by this, then perhaps they should think before they speak.
If people such as yourself and certain others (NOT ALL) on this site, who sit on their computers day after day looking for sites to place their “comments”, have nothing better to do, then why don’t you try looking for an organisation in your own country that does the same, and do some GOOD !

True, the police would have charged him already if child porn was on his computer. You never know if the media is reporting everything correctly. Secondly, what’s creepy to one person may not be creepy to another.
We can’t make a scape goat out of someone who hasn’t been charged with anything.
I hope the truth comes out soon in this case about what happened to Maddie.
