International Press said that they were arrested for trying to extort money to the McCann couple, giving false information concerning the whereabouts of their daughter, in order to get the four million euros of reward. However, Chenello – who had an arrest warrant from French authorities because of ‘criminal association’ – could have a more direct connection with Madeleine kidnapping because, according to Toscano, he had a home at Niza where ‘El Francés’ use to go frequently”, writes the Spanish journalist.

I read recently that in the past neighbors reported seeing many children passing through one house that Chemello owned. It would be interesting to know if that house was in the area where the Frenchman visited?
The article written above gives hope someone is trying to find new information.
Whether or not Murat was in the McCann apartment the night Madeleine disappeared is unknown to us at this time. We do know that the McCann friends were in and out of the apartment. If they were around as frequently as they say then it was not easy for a stranger to go in and carry off a child who might scream.. Does anyone know unusual circumstances involving the McCann friends? Human nature people would run check on their own children once they discovered Madeleine is missing. Did any of the McCann friends fail to worry about checking on their own children as soon as they heard Madeleine was missing?
So far Murat is the only official suspect. The McCann friends reportedly say they saw Murat at the initial search for Madeleine the night she vanished. It is reported that Murat denies being at the search. My question is was Murat seen around the complex in the days or nights leading up to Madeleine’s abduction? He would have needed to observe the McCanns and the nightly routine. With so many people in and out of the apartment it seems hard for someone to observe from a distance whether there is an adult actually in the apartment the entire time. People can go in and out even when there is a babysitter. Also, someone would need to make a close observation to notice if the apartment was unlocked or people were using a key. If a stranger took Madeleine wouldn’t you think someone would need to make a close inspection? There haven’t been any reports about Murat sightings before the night of the abduction other than the search after she was missing? Any info?
Yesterday there was information suggesting Murat had a literary? article about Casanova and a mention of whether Casanova was a paedophile. Having not seen the article I am guessing Casanova wasn’t interested in three year olds? Maybe the article was suggesting girls who would now be considered illegal because they are minors? Anyone know? There is a lot of difference, my opinion, in a man who might be interested in a legally underage girl than someone who is interested in a three year old. What I read about the Russian guy, Malinka, suggested he bragged or had an interest in younger girls. A younger girl who might be legally underage but who has gone through puberty does not necessarily suggest the same kind of illness that might be associated with a person who has sexual interest in little children? Society set rules regarding age but by nature girls who are old enough to have babies, with consent, seems a little different than than someone interested in having sex with a baby basically? Is there any reason known to profile Murat or his associates as paedophiles? Any info?
Is it possible Madeleine was abducted for reasons other than something to do with paedophiles or have other theories been discounted?
You would think the parents and friends would have noticed if someone was around the area observing their routine. Even if the parents and friends didn’t consider someone would steal a child, or the many other things that could happen, wouldn’t they consider someone might try to steal material items if they leave the doors unlocked? Knowing they are leaving doors unlocked you would think they would get nervous seeing someone watching their movements? So far there has been no mention of a person possibly seen more than once during the nightly checks? Any info?

Good on you David, Paul & Jo. Stop blaming the parents who cannot possibly be punished more than they are probably punishing themselves.
Concentrate on finding the innocent child and pray that she has come to no harm.

Well said David and Paul! This is exactly how I feel and how others should feel…I am shocked at how many people blame the parents. I agree that it was thoughtless and I myself wouldn’t have left my children alone but purely for reasons of hurting themselves…I just wouldn’t have thought some beast (if this is the case) would have took her.
I think they have learnt a lesson but I am so sorry they had to learn it in such a dreadful way.
It us truly unbelievable that these people are free to even glance at our innocent children.

Prosecute the parents? How about we concentrate on the important issue, finding Madeleine! And anyway, how come this selection of nonces are still wandering around free? If a little girl can be carried out of a hotel without comment then surely these pervs could also disappear without trace for a little “intensive questioning”. A little public initiative could soon find a few answers…

Why is it that some people feel the need to blame the parents, who are, themselves, the victims. I am sick of people blaming the victims. How about blaming the sick pervert that committed the crime, and then once these sicko’s are found, a good public hanging so they can not bother the rest of society again!

OK Paula and Johnnie, let’s say they are prosecuted for child neglect. Then what? And let’s say there is evidence that Madeline was fine right before they went off for dinner, and that there is no way the parents could have had time to do anything to her and then get rid of the body during the dinner.
What do you propose should be the next course of action? Any ideas about how to actually find the child?

I don’t know why the person posting above thinks this is a bad story and appears to overreact. It is interesting to know that Mr. Chemello had a home where the Frenchman visits. Has Mr. Chemello ever actually been charged with extortion or only arrested on suspicion of extortion? Is it possible that, regardless of Mr. Chemello’s previous jail sentence or other suspected activity, that he knows people who are involved in child abductions? I read Mr. Chemello went to a lawyer with information about Madeleine and that doesn’t sound like extortion. Thanks for the story!

I think they need to be investigated for sure. many of these cases happen within the victim’s own family structure. Just because the parents seem to be normal does not make them such.
As far as rehashing the story, Bogus is correct.
I’m here because I wanted to check to see if there were any new discoveries on the case of this missing gal not blog for a bunch of idiots.

When will Gerry and Kate Mccann be charged for neglecting their children? Leaving two 2-year-olds, and a 4-year-old, in an unlocked room in a foreign country while the parents were having a lovely time enjoying their restaurant meal, is astonishing. Red card for bad parents of the year.

I have a comment on this story. This is a terribly written piece, and has no meaning absolutely, and to boot is nothing but old news rehashed under a new headline - which is an unethical misrepresentation. Take a look at the first paragraph and hire yourself a proofreader, unless it is intentional drivel - in which case, well done, but your choice of subject is in bad taste.

My comment is!!! Just stop picking around like chickens..Go & get everything that is out there!..Put all of what you have together in one pot if anything connects…Be harder on whom you investigate….& if you are going to investigate “Murat” Tail him..lock him up..stop bringing him in…If things still point to him knowing something why let him walk & keep bringing him back, in hopes you will get him to crack..Crack him now!!!!!{ Hard Boiled eggs sometimes never peel} So you (1). either toss them out for a loss cause, (2). try to keep peeling it till you reach what little bit of the egg is left to use..or (3). Set it aside in a isolated place till all the eggs are peeled & then try to save what is let of the messed up one….I am sorry if I seem a little Pissed Off..IT is because “I AM”..Setting back it it like watching a Dog chase it’s own tail! there is a precious little girl out there & if still alive very scared & maybe thinking everyone she loved has just forgot about her..Even though her parents are doing some things to me some of the things are just for show!
