It's a very new country - there are tensions between the old population and the new, there are tribal and language divisions, there are tensions about what sort of nation Pakistan should be - is it a Muslim state for Muslims, or can it be more secular than that? There's no point wrecking an ally when there's no clear idea about what should take it's place. I hope Benazir wins though.
