Tory MP Resigns Over BNP Speaker
TORY MP Dr Julian Lewis has resigned from The Oxford Union in protest at its decision to invite Nick Griffin and David Irving to speak.
“Nick Griffin, leader of the British National Party (BNP) and David Irving - jailed for denying the Holocaust - were invited by the union debating society.”
The MP for New Forest East says the students should be “ashamed”.

How unfortunate that Dr. Lewis, elected by democratic means should attempt to deny others the free speech that is so vital to genuine democracy. Surely if Dr. Lewis is so outraged by this concept he should declare his position untennable and resign his seat with it’s substantial perks, as a thorough rejection of these principles. Whether they agree with the views of the speaker or not , The Oxford Union should be applauded for it’s decision.
