Peter Hain Prepares To Declare
PETER HAIN:
Peter Hain is preparing to admit to the Electoral Commission that he has failed to declare more than £100,000 in donations to his campaign for Labour’s deputy leadership.
It is understood that there are almost 20 donations that his team failed to declare, in breach of the rules for party political elections.
The scale of the under-reporting - more than half the total income received by the Hain campaign - will shock many party members and raise questions as to how such a massive apparent oversight occurred.
An oversight. And these people make the rules…

…So , as Hain has now admitted breaking the law - and is thereby allegedly guilty of dishonesty - is it time to look again at his acquittal in the Barclays Bank robbery?
Administrator: He was adjudged not guilty and there would be no justification for a re-trial. Normally, I would have pulled this under a contravention of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. I have allowed it since Hain is a high ranking public figure and was not guilty, so he has no offence to be rehabilitated for.
I think Britain’s disabled persons may feel he has rather a lot to explain following his draconian first months in the pensions office. The Welsh and Northern Irish politicians may also have an unkind word or two in your shell-likes if you asked.
In Northern Ireland’s case there are common expressions like: “Mo and Mandelson were bad enough but..Hain? Sweet suffering Christ!”. The Rev Ian Paisley’s privately expressed opinions are unprintable. I am told Gerry Adams wasn’t too happy either, but I’ve always found it difficult to tell what emotes Gerry.
Me? I just find Mr Hain unctuous and not the sort of man I’d like as a friend. I think it would prove far too costly.
On the other hand, I’d like to know if he’s ever been cheeky enough to have had a Barclay’s bank account.-agw
