MADELEINE McCann is missing.
THE REGION’S coastline will be lit up this weekend to mark the first anniversary of Madeleine McCann’s disappearance.
On Saturday night, people of all ages are being encouraged to gather along the four mile seafront between Rhyl and Prestatyn with their torches, lanterns and candles from 9.30pm to 10pm as part of a national Lighting the Way Home day for Madeleine.

ADVERTISEMENTDespite a high profile campaign to find Madeleine, there have been no confirmed sightings of the four year old from Leicestershire since she disappeared from her apartment while on holiday with her family in Praia da Luz, Portugal, on May 3 last year. It is not known if she is still alive.
Prestatyn resident Vivien Holmes, who is helping organise the region’s event on behalf of The Helping to find Madeleine (HTFM) campaign, feels Madeleine’s disappearance has highlighted the horror caused when children are kidnapped by organised crime and every effort should be made to ensure it does not continue.
She said: “It shocked us all into doing something to fight against this evil trade. Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, invite everyone to stand together light a candle and shine a light for Madeleine’s safe return home.
“This will raise awareness and show the world that we are determined to stamp out this terrible trade in the suffering of God’s most precious, innocent, helpless little children.”
Rev Quentin Bellamy, vicar of Prestatyn, will lead prayers for Madeline’s safe return on Prestatyn Promenade during the Lighting the Way Home event.

Hope it brings the family a little emotional or psychological relief. I get the impression that it’s only the tremendous support they’ve had from so many people which has kept them going over the last year, not only because of the loss of their child but also in the face of the hate-campaign and media smears. If they are innocent, they need every scrap of support they can get. If they are guilty, it’s still a demonstration of respect for Madeleine.

What a kind idea, Anorak. It doesn’t appeal to me in the least, definitely not my style, but presumably, it does to them. I do hope it helps them.

I thought Sue Healy said they didn’t want it to be a big public thing anyway? Didn’t I read she said just lights in houses, or something similar? Not saying anything against the people who have decided they’d like to do this other thing, though, if it’s true, but not sure whose idea it was. (Must have been somewhere on net I read it. I only read the papers on the net now. Not paying for them any more.)

They showed the clip with G. coming out of the police station, but cut out the bit when he slips near the car… For him to look more composed and more “innocent”

Shall we listen to all murder suspects - their side of the story - two hours each - before they get convicted? Or only to some privileged ones? And how do you choose who?
