If the answer to alcoholism really is to teach children how to drink, then why don’t the Tories propose giving away free Dubonnet and soda in schools during break time, or perhaps little bottles of vodka and red bull at lunch.

My Parents gave me all the horrid drinks like Pimms and Benedictine and something else fucking horrible that I can’t remember now - and I never touched a dop of anything - apart from Champagne at functions - until I was 14.
I am making up for the lack of parental control now!
Coming from a long line of alcoholics I am genetically programmed to be a drinker - and why try to be something you’re not! Ha!

teaching kids how to handle drink is not such a daft idea - they manage it in Europe and don’t suffer the sort of binge drinking that goes on here so why not give it a go? it might do something to eradicate the mentality that the only way to have a good time is to go out and get absolutely plastered….
