Italy Sets Its Troops On The Immigrants
ITALY’S troops are on teh streets. Why?
Writes EU Ref:
I don’t think anyone is under any illusions – apart from the British media - as to why Berlusconi has put 3,000 armed troops on the streets of major Italian cities.
Ostensibly a measure to “help cut down crime”, something claimed by both interior minister Roberto Maroni and his defence colleague Ignazio La Russo, this is nothing more than a fig-leaf, the Italians themselves being very well aware that most of the crime in Italy is Mafia-related, which will be untouched by this “crack-down”.
If for “crime”, however, you read “immigrants” – and in particular, the Roma – then the agenda becomes clearer, as does the timescale.
Coming on the back of the programme to fingerprint the inhabitants of the 700 or so immigrant encampments dotted around the major cities, the next move comes in October, when the “census” is finished, when the government plans to dismantle all remaining unauthorised settlements.
That the troops have been put on the streets now, with a deployment that is scheduled to last for an initial period of six months, is clearly – on the one hand - a pre-emptive strike, as unease grows at the scale of the “census”, and – on the other - a preparation for the major upheaval that is to follow in a couple of months.
It is no coincidence, therefore, that in the main, the troops are being stationed mainly in or close to the camps and at the growing number of immigrant holding centres, all on the outskirts of the cities.
When the bulldozers move in during October – as indeed is planned – there is undoubtedly going to be trouble, as upwards of 160,000 gypsies are going to be targeted, even though up to three-quarters of them are Italian citizens.
That this “pogrom” will have the support of the bulk of Italian people is evidenced by a recent incident in Naples (pictured) when the bodies of two Roma girls who had drowned in the sea were left covered with towels while beachgoers continued to sunbathe.
Comparisons are now being made between this government’s action and the census of Jews carried out by Benito Mussolin in 1938, the beginning of a process that put many of them in concentration camps. The Italian government, of course, denies any such connection, but its actions display a rooted determination to clear out what are clearly considered unwelcome “guests”.
And all of this is going to present something of a problem for the “colleagues” in Brussels, who have been soft-peddling on their condemnation of the Rome government’s action. When the troops go into action for real, however, even the EU is going to find it difficult to turn a blind eye. Unless it takes a firm line – where Italy leads, other member states will want to follow.
It’s racism. It’s bigotry. It’s wrong…

Karen! You sensible voice of reason! I was having genetic nightmares about Kristallnacht all week.
It just proves that if the media tells the people that the problem is caused by X - then X will get the blame in the eyes of the public.
Then everybody becomes a willing executioner!
I am going to hide in the priest-hole whilst this lot are about!

160,000 people in camps is a problem - but not one for the Army to solve.
I’ve got a lot of Italian friends - they’re all over here because the economy and the corruption in Italy makes it impossible for them to have the standard of living they have in Scotland (and we all think the place is a pit
).
Scapegoating gypsies isn’t the answer - sorting out the political structure is. Although persecuting gypsies is probably easier, will relieve some public frustration and will divert campaigning energy away from the wider issues… so that’s probably what’s going to happen.

Tina T. I have been to Italy many times and it is my favourite country outside of the UK.
Very few countries welcome immigrants from any country unless they arrive with wealth.
I agree that in the current climate we should only admit the people with the skills that are needed - but what about the people who are escaping war zones and seeking political asylum?
Italy has to take it’s share. The tiny islands of the UK holds far more refugees than our Home Office would have us believe.
The solution would be to bomb out half of the World’s poorest countries and rebuild with Italian family values - but we can’t do that unless everybody in NATO agrees that it’s OK to do it.
Soon - it will be agreed - but not in our life-time.
I would love to walk into Ethiopia and Iraq and Yugoslavia and Pakistan and find that it looks like Rome or Venice and Milan - but we will have to wait.
I am on your side. And I love your fashion and food as well by the way!
In fact - I would love to walk into a full-scale model of the Vatican in the middle of Pakistan and light a candle for my Mother who is RC - or order a pizza and ice-cream at the bottom of the mock Spanish Steps in Afghanistan tomorrow night - but we can’t - yet! lol

This is such a stupid statement! This person has never been to Italy and apparently does not read the Italian news.
I am an Italian who has been living in the US for many years, but I have family in Italy and follow the news of what is happening on the web. The Mafia operates in the south of Italy and does not touch ordinary people who are not involved in it. Immigrants legal and illegal commit many crimes such as mentioned becouse its easy money, wherever they see opportunity. Remember that they come from the third world where behaviour and culture are very different and violence and corruption are rampant. Italy is going back to where it was in the fifties ans sixties, where most italians where poor and opportunities for the majority were few. Since Italians do not have enough jobs and proper housing how can they give it to foreigners?

I have an Italian partner, but no venitian glass. I also dislike tatoos.
In my book the murder and rape has no excuse.
You need to see what is happening in Italy, the country is turning to merde and beleive me Immigrants demanding a better life is certainly not the solution, think for yourself, if they wanted a better life what stops them from aspiring to this in their own country, or is the free ride that much more attractive?
Not that i disagree with helping people in need, but a countrys priority should be at home for indigenous people first, then help others.
quote;
We had a disgusting episode in the UK where cockles were being collected in the middle of the night on a Morecambe beach.
Chinese men and women were working for less than a pound per hour.
They did not want to be illegal immigrant cocklers - they wanted to be tradesmen and nurses but they couldn’t get the legal status.
They drowned because the bastards who employed them were not watching the tide come in.
And why were they unable to get legal status?????
Or do you feel that any country should let anyone in? (then pay for their upkeep, teach them a new language etc)

Shall we ring-fence an area in Italy to put these people in so that we can keep an eye on them?
We could have the ring-fenced area a long way from where you live so that you don’t have to listen to their tummies rumbling or hear their children vomiting with colic!
And we can make lamp-shades out of their tattooed skin when they die of hunger.
They would look pretty next to the Venetian glass on your credenza!
OK?!
I am not do-gooder!

orignaux de chocat………
We appear to have crossed swords. Forgive me please.
I should have said if anybody’s house is burgled or anybody’s car was stolen.
I am honestly not a do-gooder!
I would personally love to put these fuckers in the stocks and flail them and then roll them in salt.
The World is changing though and selling skills on the open market is very competitive.
The UK tax-payers are equally pissed off with the same things.
Acre on hectare we have had millions more than Italy over the years and the UK is a festering melting pot with boils erupting everywhere.
So watch out for it happening in yours if you make the same mistakes as we have.
However, if our pseudo-Socialist Government would hand out some work-permits and put some mobile homes in some empty fields for the workers to live in while they get their fucking housing policies up and running - we might get somewhere.
Rapists and murderers apart - the ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS want a better life in a different country and they have chosen yours to live in.
Embrace them and feel honoured that they chose your country out of all the others - but drag them into your own community - even though they don’t want to be there - Otherwise you will end up with the disaster zones and no-go zones that we have.
If Hitler and Mussellini had got their shit together we wouldn’t have been in this mess.
This is why I am upset about the poor bastard in the Hague.
Sitting there waiting to be tried for War crimes!
He was only trying to help.
Me and you know he was doing the right thing - but do the War crime investigators ? I think that they will want to imprison him for a long time.
He has my love and support. X

ok coco, so to be an illegal immigrant and kill for a mobile phone is acceptable behaviour?
do you honestly beleive that someone kills for a phone to steal and buy food when they are quite adept at stealing food in the first place, you are naive at best.
Obviously I misunderstood that being ‘disenfranchised’ gives one the moral high ground, the ability and legality to kill to eat, my apologies.
Oh and by the way have a look at how many law abiding families who cannot make ends meet in Italy go out and kill other Italians because they are ‘disenfranchised’.
(Maybe you are only informed of the situation in Italy by the press in the UK? Maybe you have no experience of the real problems for normal families in Italy? The lack of jobs because the illegals work for little? The cost of living in Italy? The crazy politicians who only look out for themselves, The constant influx of illegals? I could go on, but I do not wish to bore everyone. I admit to not having answers for these ills but would say that bleating about “disenfranchised” ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS certainly is not an answer)
to quote you (to show your attitude) “Not that I personally would condone the beating of prisoners and suspects - unless they have just broken into my house or fucked off with my car - but you know what I mean. The cheeky Scouse mare.”
Only if YOUR property is stolen there is a problem?
There is no excuse to kill for a phone, rape a woman for the €10 in the handbag and leave her dead in a field, to murder the old man that you have been paid to look after.
Save me from the do-gooders bullshit please.

Thes people are human beings. Human beings are a resource! These human beings are not being allowed towork and contribute!
These are not to be mistaken for all the different creeds and colours that inhabit the UK and US who will not get off their fat or skinny arses and get out and work for a fucking living - instead of burgling and robbing and mugging people because they are not a footballer or a fucking film star!
These people are desperate! FUCKING DEPERATE DISENFRANCHISED HUMAN BEINGS!

Italy suffers because of the illegal immigration, make no mistake the country is going down the pan.
As for the poison dwarf (berlusconi) well what do you expect from a prime minister who can pass laws of immunity from prosecutin?
