The Spectacularly Ordinary Sarah Palin

SARAH Palin is the everywoman voter’s friend:

She is so absolutely, remarkably, spectacularly ordinary. I think the magic of Sarah Palin speaks to a belief that so many of us share: the sense that we personally know five people in our immediate circle who would make a better president than the menagerie of candidates the major parties routinely offer. Sarah Palin has erupted from this collective American Dream — the idea that, given nothing but classic American values like hard work, integrity, and tough-minded optimism you can actually do what happens in the movies: become Leader of the Free World, the President of the United States of America. (Or, well, you know, vice president.)

If she ends up destroying the world, at least we’ll know that it was done by somebody good looking, not some ugly twallop.

  2. 2 Bill Says:

From birth all the way through our college years, we are trained and taught how to be the best that we possibly can. We read the works of famous writers and poets. We are shown the works of famous artists and we listen to compositions created by talented musicians. Famous leaders and diplomats are put before us as examples what we can be if we work hard and have vision and forsight. We’re all taught all of our lives to strive to be extraordinary. Then someone like Sarah Palin (or George W. Bush, or Dick Cheney, or Karl Rove - all republicans) comes along and she’s praised for her ability to be ordinary - which seems to be the new defining virtue of the Republican Party. What gives? Here’s to a country that is satisfied with a grade of “C”.

    Bill

That’s because the Democrats are positioned as the party of the people and the Republicans are positioned as the party of Big Business - so if the Republicans can reposition themselves as a bunch of ordinary Joes just doing their thing it undercuts the Democrats esp. if they can point to all the rich, famous hypocrites that are going to vote Obama (maybe that’s why I haven’t seen Susan Saradon and Michael Moore in about 4 years - the Democrats are taking no risks… ).

  4. 4 Roger Says:

integrity? OMG, has anyone been paying attention to the lies this woman has been telling about the bridge to no where, her not taking earmarks, her selling the jet on E-Bay? I wish someone in the MSM would grow a set and start going after all these very easily proven lies and start calling her for what she is, someone who will do ANYTHING, say ANYTHING and lie, smear and slander for what she wants.

Right, so a normal politician, then?
