New Logo, New Danger

‘NEW logo, new Britain.

A capital idea

It is a fact universally acknowledged among marketing folk have that there is nothing so wrong with any product that a good brand redesign can’t fix.

The great British public may have overwhelmingly rejected the Tories’ policies at the last two General Elections, but will we be able to resist their shiny new logo?

The Times says the redesign – by a company owned by party co-chairman Lord Saatchi – echoes both the Statue Of Liberty and Stalinist designs.

A kind of “Bring me your tired, your poor, huddled masses yearning to breathe free…and we’ll throw them in a Siberian gulag for 20 years”.

Tory co-chairman Dr Liam Fox (who was luckily absent from Westminster yesterday) said the red, white and blue logo showed pride and confidence.

“We are not ashamed of our country,” he said, “which is why we reclaim the colours red, white and blue. We will not surrender the colours of our flag to fringe parties.”

Like, er, the old Conservative party…’
