A Question Of Identity
‘PEOPLE who refuse to register with the planned national identity card database will be liable for a £2,500 fine, the Government said yesterday.

There will in addition, says the Independent, be penalties of £1,000 for those who fail to renew their ID cards or forget to update their details when they move home.
All of which is all well and good, but what of those poor unfortunates who do not know their own identity.
Has Home Secretary David Blunkett made special provisions for people who are, say, suffering from Alzheimers and dont actually know who they are?
Or for young children, perhaps, who are not sure about the identity of their father – whether hes the man who tucks them into bed every night or that bearded chap on TV?’
