No, neither did we. But the Times says it is so. And its the view put forward by Sir Peter Gershon, the Governments efficiency expert. And who are we to argue with him?
Or his argument that three aircraft must be purchased to ferry our great and good about the place.
Funnily enough, Gershons report was commissioned by Downing Street. But do not for a moment suppose this is all a plan to get Tony Blair into a freebie private jet.
As the man on the Street explains: The timescale is long-term so its not something the Prime Minister will get much benefit from.
Unless he decides to stick around. Or grow wings…’
