Shaking With Excitement

by | 30th, January 2006

‘A VICTORY for the terrorist group Hamas in Palestinian politics? The outing of a leading Liberal Democrat politician? The FA’s decision to name Sven Goran Eriksson’s successor before the World Cup begins? Or do you want to hear about an award for an Anorak writer?

It’s no contest. And we recognise the work of Julian Segal, billed as he is in the Guardian as a 34-year-old London publishing worker.

Aside from contributing to Anorak’s esteemed pages, Jools writes Greetingthe500, a website intended to see whether celebrities will meet with ordinary people without any incentive.

“Unfortunately, these people aren’t meant to get anything from it, so the publicity is throwing a bit of a spanner in the works. But I don’t [mind], as long as I meet them,’ says Jools in the Guardian.

“It was quite surreal – like a Hieronymous Bosch experience. I’ve never done anything for charity before so this is like my London Marathon… but without the smelly shoes,” says Jools, who has never consciously run, jogged or walked briskly in his life.

But now his project is going places. And we ask that all Anorak’s legion of celebrity fans – Kerry Katona, Bob Carolgees et al – to get in touch so that Jools can slap his sweaty paw in your mittened hand.
