Clever Trevor Izzadeen

‘IT has been a while and we have at times feared that we would never get a new domestic face of militant Islam.

But now we have found someone. Step forward and wave your fists at passers by, Sheikh Omar Brooks.

Also known as Abu Izzadeen – and Trevor to those who knew him in his formative years in Hackney, east London – Brooks has taken over from Omar Bakri, the so-called Tottenham Taliban, as leader of the Saviour Sect, a group established 10 months ago when Bakri’s Al-Muhajiroun was disbanded.

At 31 years of age, Brooks has a big future ahead of him as extreme Islam’s resident raving lunatic. Though he lacks Abu Hamza’s hooks and Bakri’s Ford Galaxy and prescription glasses, Brooks delivers a familiar line in jihad and vengeance.

He says the July 7 attacks on London were “completely praiseworthy”. He says “all Jews ands Christians are going to hell fire”.

Of course, this is all nothing new; we have heard these things many times before. But still Brooks must spout the usual vitriol if he is to be our resident mad mullah.

He is also a big fan to the benefits system. An undercover reporter who spent two months with the Saviours tells the Times how a member of the group told him that getting a job would be contributing to the kuffar (non-Muslim) system. It is permissible to “live off benefits”.

Back to Brooks, who has realised that he is being listened to and gives it the full throat. The Times hears of his mission to “instil terror into the hearts of the kuffar”.

“I am a terrorist,” he says. And: “I want to be blown into pieces with my hands in one place and my feet in another.”

An ambition that should put him in line for a generous disability allowance…’
