Penelope Cruz Sees Suri

“YES, I finally met Suri. She’s absolutely adorable, she’s one of the most beautiful babies I’ve seen, she’s really, really beautiful.”

We will have to take the word of Penelope Cruz, Tom Cruise’s homophonous former girlfriend. She produces the gushing tribute to Suri but, unforgivably, no photograph.

We are not ones to question Penny’s honesty, but are painfully aware that beauty is in the eye of beholder – the Spanish actress may find, say, a green baby with orangey reptilian skin and one revolving eye where a belly button usually sits attractive. We are not here to judge.

Whatever the look, it’s good to see that Penny is far from bitter about not being the special one who delivered Tom’s child to planet Earth. “I can only say good things about Tom,” says Penny. “Tom and I are good friends and in many ways he’s shown me to have a kind heart.”

“I’m happy for him,” says Penny. And no, there is no truth in the rumour that she is pregnant. “In terms of babies, I love children but that’s a different story.”

And one OK! is keen to write. Would Penny like to be a mother one day? “Yes, I’m very maternal,” says she. “You should see me with my friends, not to mention my cats and dogs.”

Steady on, Penny. Babies are smooth-skinned and look like little humans. Cats and dogs are covered in fur and walk on all fours. Let’s hope her confusion is not rooted in that aforesaid audience with Suri.

Penny says she owns cats and dogs and plans to “adopt” more.
