Rugger Lovers – Kate & Will Try

by | 21st, February 2007

kate-middleton.jpgSO in love are Prince William and Kate Middleton that he’s taken her to the rugby. And she show signs of actually wanting to go.

There they are cheering on the England team.

It’s the kind of outing that peppers many early and young romances. William is a keen rugby fan. As Hello! points out, the heir to the throne is vice royal patron of the Welsh Rugby Union.

Before Welshmen get chippy over their figurehead cheering on the enemy, know that England were playing Italy and William was looking in a British capacity. And, of course, he is English.

And he’s taken his girlfriend along. Rugby is such fun. And very soon, you just know Kate will be introducing her man to her hobbies.

See the loved-up young man in yoga class. Hear his grunts and his groans as he executes a downward dog and, in the interests of romance, keeps his eyes to the floor and does not dare look at the rest of the entirely female class.

For now, William and Kate are just two “ordinary” spectators at a rugby match. Like the rest of the rugby watching fraternity, they’ve parked their cars in a muddy field, opened the boot and staged a pre-match picnic.

And here they are in the ground. Wills is smiling. Kate is smiling. “Rugby,” as Hello! writes, “is fast becoming the hottest royal spectator sport.”

We know about Wills, And we know that his aunt, Princess Anne, is royal patron of the Scottish Rugby Union, and that Anne’s daughter, Zara, dates England player Mike Tindall.

Of course, this is all bunkum – it is not rugby that fascinates in royal circles, but rugger. And as anyone who has tried to score tickets to a Six Nations match knows, watching it is an exclusive pastime.

Hurrah!
