Rosie O’Donnell Gives British Captives In Iran A Tonkin

rosieodonnell.jpgFORMER comedienne turned talk show co-host Rosie O’Donnell thinks she knows the truth behind the Iranian hostage crisis. The Brits “did it on purpose.”

“There were 15 British sailors and marines who apparently went in to Iranian waters and they were seized by the Iranians. And I have one thing to say. Gulf of Tonkin. Google it,” Rosie told Americans who tuned into the View talk show last week.

O’Donnell was referring to the alleged attack on US ships in the Gulf of Tonkin that provided the pretext for America’s escalation of the Vietnam conflict.

Her comments have thrown her into a war of her own with Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly, who insinuated she ought to be sacked, and with arch nemesis Donald Trump, who told a US radio station that O’Donnell should be thrown off the air.

But O’Donnell is unrepentant. On her blog she claims that the British kidnapping was part of a covert operation to provide the pretext for war:

“the british did it on purpose
into iranian waters
as
US MILITARY BUILD UP ON THE IRANIAN BORDER

we will be in iran
before summer
as planned”

While O’Donnell touts her conspiracy theory, New York’s tabloids have been foaming at the mouth over Britain’s lack of aggression.

The New York Post accused Tony Blair of displaying a “surprising weakness and impotence” and the Daily News described Downing Street’s response as “depressingly tepid.”

Meanwhile, the New York Sun claims that the Pentagon and the US military fear Iran may wait until Tony Blair leaves office before releasing the hostages.

“If the Iranians hold onto the hostages until Mr. Blair is out of office, it would…be a blow to American prestige, as Mr. Blair was the most vocal ally of America’s war to topple Saddam Hussein,” the paper reported.
