A Free Vote – For Lightbulbs, Laptops & A Brighter Smile

menzies.jpgFORGET Free Nelson Mandela – Britain’s political parties are offering far more free things, as Dizzy writes.

IT seems that offering freebies are the key to manifestos in the Welsh Assembly elections.

It seems that the Welsh Conservatives were first with an offering of free light bulbs (worth £20 with added mercury!), then Plaid Cymru upped the ante with their “free laptop for every eleven year old” policy (see the video) and now the Welsh Liberal Democrats have got in on the giveaway act.

They have launched their manifesto and are offering to give errr… “every child aged 4-5 years a toothbrush and toothpaste”.

Clearly they’re a little embarrassed by this policy, as they seem to have removed the news story about it from their website, the last link just redirects to a general news page instead of the original.

The policy is still in the manifesto though, which no doubt went to press before they could remove it.
