Challenging National Institute of Clinical Excellence Over Alzheimer’s

FROM the Anorak Forums:

…He was put on a drugs regime. A blind trial and they would never know if the drugs he was being given were the real thing or placebos (a drug with no real effect)

Reports coming from mutual friends say his subsquent decline may very well mean he was given the latter.

That why I am delighted there is this week a High Court challenge to the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) advice to the Government not to continue funding anti-dementia drugs. The case for a judicial review was mounted by drug companies supported by the Alzheimer’s Society.

These drugs would cost the National Health Service £2.50 a day to supply each patient the use of acetyl cholinesterase inhibitors. Bear with me, I know that is a put off, but this is important because they may one day save us from a living hell.
