by | 11th, July 2007

THE police investigating Madeleine McCann’s disapperance are asking questions:

Three friends of Madeleine McCann’s parents have been interviewed by Portuguese police as part of the ongoing investigation into the four-year-old´s disappearance.

Doctors Fiona Payne, 34 from Leicester and Russell O’Brien, 36 from Exeter and another friend Rachael Oldfield, 36, from London were holidaying with the McCanns when their daughter was taken from her bed in the resort of Praia da Luz on May 3.

And Murat:

Robert Murat, the only formal suspect in the case returned to the station for another day of questioning by Portuguese detectives today.

Police called him in to headquarters at the same time as the McCanns’ friends raising the possibility that they may have been called in for identification purposes.

A police source said yesterday: “It was not a case of the McCann´s friends simply going over their statements. There was a reason why they were present in the station at the same time as Murat.”
