Dog Muck And Brass In New York

pooperscooper.gifTHERE’S money in shit–dog shit to be precise. You just have to know which pile of dog mess to look out for.

Lab-German shorthair mix Pepper recently gobbled down about $700 out of a purse.

She spat out some of the $50 and $100 bills on the carpet. But to get the rest, owner Debbie Hulleman of Wisconsin was forced to follow the mutt around waiting for nature to do its work.

“Pretty soon (I) came to a pile, that had a fifty dollar bill hanging out, part of a fifty, and I said ‘gosh, look at that,'” Hulleman told KARE 11 News “There were lots of piles with money hanging out there, so I had to save it, rinse it, strain it.”

Amazingly Hulleman came out less than $100 down. She taped the bits of money she found and exchanged the bills for almost $700 at a local bank.

It wasn’t the most pleasant of tasks.

“Everyone said, ‘I can’t believe you did that,'” Hulleman told the Associated Press. “Well, for $400, yeah, I would do that.”

Hulleman wasn’t even doing it for personal gain. She was on holiday when Pepper wolfed down the $700 meal. Her mother was dog-sitting for Pepper at the time, and the money belonged to a friend of her mother’s who was visiting the house.

Though Hulleman managed to recover almost all the money, one piece of the jigsaw remains to be solved:

“We have a $100 bill that can’t be recovered because you need three-fourths of a bill, and it is only half of a bill,” Hulleman told the Associated Press.

She’s probably out there this very minute, following Pepper with a pair of rubber gloves and a baggy.
