President 2008: Sam Brownback Creates

by | 19th, October 2007

SOMEONE you’ve probably never heard of probably isn’t running for president any more.

Yup, Sam “Who he?” Brownback is expected to bow out of the 2008 presidential race this afternoon.

Brownback is a conservative Christian, from Kansas, who along with Republican hopefuls Mick Huckabee and Tom Tancredo, signaled in a presidential debate that he does not believe in evolution.

Bronwback’s departure from the race leaves one less right wing nutjob for America’s moral crusaders to vote for.

It’s an issue of some concern to conservative Christians, who were instrumental in President Bush’s 2004 campaign. And they are faced with a tough choice ahead.

The current Republican frontrunner, Rudy Giuliani, supports abortion and gay rights, Mitt Romney is a Mormon and John McCain supports gay marriage. A group of 50 evangelicals met in Salt Lake City recently where they discussed plans to back a third-party candidate if Giuiliani is nominated.

Meanwhile, about 2,000 conservative Christian leaders are meeting in Washington today for the first in a two-day Values Voter Summit, where they will be addressed by Giuliani and his rivals.

But according to the Times, they are not hopeful that they will emerge in a couple of days any closer to finding a candidate.

Maybe they are waiting for divine inspiration.
