MADDIE WATCH – Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann

METRO: “When is serious news seriously funny?”

Nearly always if it’s on ITV?

Topical comedy can be something of a hot potato. Take last year’s most prominent UK news story: the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. Not even the most talented comedians could get away with touching it with a bargepole.

Well, no. This one was funny. But not these.

Lovable circuit rascal Silky is making it possible to get up close and personal with the funny side of the headlines with his new night, The Verve Show. Silky plays host as four panellists – this time around Andrew O’Neill, Isma Almas, Barry Dodds and, um, me – chew the news and spit it out with a comedy coating.
It’s a less hairy Spit The Dog…
