Barack Obama Wins The Superbowl As Country Freezes

by | 2nd, February 2009

GEORGE Bush. Has he gone yet? There’s a big natural disaster in the US. Who’s in charge?

Barack Obama, host of cocktail parties and Superbowl fan.

Meanwhile the Anchoress spots life away from the big gravy jug. A Glenn Reynolds reader writes:

What Katrina taught the media was that they could hurt Bush by lying. What 2008 taught them was that they could help Obama by not reporting at all. What will 2009 teach them? I shudder to think.

Brrrr! White people are a-dayin’:

Where is FEMA? That’s the question rural southerners are asking. Or would be asking if their lips weren’t frozen shut.

Brrrrrrrrrr!

Last week a massive ice storm struck the heartland of America, leaving at least 42 dead and millions without power or water. Days later there are still over a million people in Kentucky who have no power, no water, and no communications.

Game on!

It turns out at least seven people in Kentucky have died from Carbon monoxide poisoning. That includes one man found dead in his apartment near Louisville Saturday morning who was trying to heat his home with a charcoal grill.

Is it on the national news? No. And is it Obama’s fault? Well, he does move in mysterious ways. He just won the Sueprbowl:

In fact after the Steelers defeated Baltimore in the AFC Championship Game, Rooney, with the blessing of head coach Mike Tomlin, gave the game ball to Obama. After becoming the youngest head coach in NFL history and only the third African American in history to get his team onto sports’ biggest stage, Tomlin said, “What we are doing here today pales in comparison to what’s going on in our nation’s capital, President Obama’s inauguration. As a citizen and a parent, the hope that he potentially brings to the table is exciting … the hope for the future, the hope for our children, I’m more excited about that than anything else going on right now.”

Obama…. Come in, Obama:

Yet Kentucky’s Democrat governor Steve Beshear earlier praised Obama’s swift action … in making a phone call:

“I can’t tell you how appreciative we were,” the governor said. “He not only expressed his concern, but he obviously had the Kentuckians in his thoughts and prayers, and he communicated that to us.”

It’s 3pm and the phone is ringing. Click!
