Freddie Flintoff’s Caribbean cruise

by | 11th, February 2009

THE Current Bun is aghast to discover that Andrew Flintoff and best bud Steve Harmison (how is that man still an international cricketer?) went on a luxury booze cruise only ‘hours’ after England’s humiliating defeat to the West Indies in the First Test at Sabina Park.

The pair were flown back to England’s team hotel by helicopter after staying the night onboard the six-star Silver Shadow cruise ship.

Is this acceptable behaviour? Hell no. Anorak always suspected that English cricketers treated tours to the Caribbean as little more than paid holidays in the sun – England’s woeful form so far, which betrays a depressing lack of focus and professionalism, only backs up this impression. Indeed, Flintoff’s infamous ‘Fredalo’ incident, when he was rescued after a drunken escapade in a pedalo, also happened in the Windies.

You’re not on holiday, you dolts, and we don’t care if you only had a couple of alcoholic drinks. This is your job, which you’re well-paid to do, and it’s an insult to all England cricket fans when you react to a heavy defeat in such a blasé manner.
