George Galloway And Ridley Attacked In Egypt By Anti-Hamas Dirty Words

by | 9th, March 2009

LAUGHING GEORGE Galloway’s peace convoy rolls into Egypt:

A convoy led by the maverick MP George Galloway carrying supplies for Gaza has been attacked in Egypt, apparently injuring several people travelling in his party.

The convoy, carrying aid worth £1 million, was pelted with stones and vandalised with anti-Hamas slogans after it stopped overnight in El-Arish, a small town around 28 miles from the Rafah border crossing with Gaza.

Jews? Pass the stress ball, Ali:

I salute your indefatigability,” says one admirer, quoting Galloway’s famour catchphrase, before adding a cheery “you w***er”.

It’s all about solidarity. No, not the Jews. Solidarity!

“Just driven at 40mph through the streets of Tangier. Crowds of people lined the route cheering, giving victory signs and waving. Amazing!” – George Galloway

A fellow pilgrim adds:

“The feeling is immense peace, love, respect and humbleness. The people here are true brothers welcoming us with food, love and hospitality. When the convoy got off the ferry from Spain to Tangier the whole convoy group joined together in one big Jummat.”

As Indy Media says:

Well, that’s lovely. There’s nothing more heart-warming than a big Jummat is there? And very generous of the Moroccan government to provide a police escort for the virtuous crusaders against injustice while they are the esteemed guests of the North African regime.

Socialist Worker reports on those Morroccan Jews:

This is a country occupied by a murderous foreign power for decades. A country split apart by a 1,600 mile series of fortified walls backed by soldiers, heavy weaponry and millions of landmines.

A country with 160,000 people living in refugee camps and yearning to return to their homeland.

It is a country where young and old have declared an intifada against their rulers — and where hundreds of UN resolutions which call for justice have been contemptuously ignored.

It could be Palestine. But this is Western Sahara in north Africa where, 30 years ago this month, the latest phase of its people’s torment began.

“For three decades Moroccan rule has meant that the Saharawi people have suffered total lack of democracy, seen their culture crushed, their young people repressed and imprisoned and their resources stolen,” says Sidi Omar.

“Phosphates, fish and oil rights have all been plundered — they’re even taking the sand now!”

How man Zs in Solidarity?

“It’s an absolute disgrace,” convoy organiser Yvonne Ridley told the AFP news agency. “The power was cut. Under cover of darkness members of our convoy were attacked with stones.

“Vandals also wrote dirty words and anti-Hamas slogans. Several people in the convoy were injured in the attack.”

Still, could avae been worse – could have been in France
