Farting footballer booked for gamesmanship

A Sunday league player was booked for breaking wind, just as an opponent was about to take a penalty. Impressive farting skills, you have to say, Brian.

The guilty party was a player for Chorlton Villa, a lower-league team based in the Manchester area. The team’s manager, Ian Treadwell, said his side’s conduct was “normally exemplary”.

“One of our players ‘broke wind’ and only the referee heard it and he booked the player,” Treadwell said.

The one who smelt it, dealt it, surely?

There was a happy ending for Villa (unlike namesakes Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday): they won the game, which was against International Manchester FC, by the exciting scoreline of 6-4.
