Winehouse Booed In Rainy St Lucia

by | 9th, May 2009

amy_winehouse1HAVING seen Amy Winehouse perform, Anorak can confirm the audience at her comeback performance in St Lucia was made up of:

People looking to score dugs – 37 %
Journalists and the recently institutionalised – 16 %
Worried mums – 23%
Masochists – the rest

So Winehouse takes to the stage at the St Lucia Jazz Festival and performs as expected – shambolicly – but leaves some of the crowd who were expecting more – more swearing and Amy to pass out on stage screaming for Blaaaaaaaake – booing and hissing.

So says the Mail, which adds that Winehouse “appeared to stumble onstage, before falling down; she then removed her white high heels.”

And threw them at the audience / drove the heel of one into the eye of a blonde girl in the front row / smoked them?

It seems not. The crowd is said to have jeered. “**** you,” fired back Amy, quick as a flash, allegedly. But a lame “F*ck you” is not what the fans want. Where’s the real anger? We want Amy Winehouse!

Amy’s spokesman explains in typical PR fashion:

“Amy would like to express her disappointment that weather forced the abandonment of her show at the St Lucia Jazz Festival last night.”

Sympathetic back story: Weather.

“Amy and the band tried to soldier on but the set had to be cut short.”

Defence: Bravery in the teeth of adversity.

“Amy is very disappointed as St Lucia has been wonderful to her and its people have welcomed her with open arms, but circumstances beyond anyone’s control meant that this special show did not go as planned.”

Conclusion: Nothing to do with her.

Eyewitness Victor Phillips muses:

“I was there. She was booed off the stage. If it was the rain why did the act after her perform?”

Because the March of Penguins laughs in the face of rain?

The eyewitness fails to add:

Thank you, Amy, for making it a memorable night and one that thanks to my name appearing in the papers I will never forget. I will be able to tell my children and my children’s children about this when I am old and you are falling over in the care home and elbowing housemates in the throat…

Amy Winehouse is famous for being a singer…
